MRS ELIZABETH FAIRCHILD. Elizabeth Aligrliue Fairchild <«»•«• Gregg i, daughter of Randolph and Sarah Gregg, was born in Van Wert County, Ohio, December 3, 1857, and completed her earthly pilgrimage at Decatur, Indiana, November 13, 1924, having reached the age of 66 years, it months and 10 days. She was married December 4. 1875, to William M. C, Barber, with whom for nineteen years she shared the' joys, cares and responsibilities of the home. Six children were born to bless their lives, and upon whom they poured their love and parental care. But October the 18th, 18!|5. the husband was taken from her. on September 3rd. 1897, she wan married to Amos Fairchild, and for over twenty-seven years they have shared each other’s lives. With but a sfiort interval, the remainder of her life was spent in Decatur. Mrs. Fairchild was converted to God many years ago. and about 1890 joined the United Brethren Church in Van Wert County where site then resided. She expressed a faith in God tt the end and was anxious for her heavenly home and the respite from the sufferings of the body,’ which at times were very severe. Mrs. Fairchild was a mother with a great heart that sympathized with all in need. In times of distress and need, neighbors knew where to turn for red help and sympathy. Her sympathies were deep: never was she known to turn a hungry one from her door unfeed. She was. sacrificing toward herself and always! thoughtful of others. In disposition! she was cheerful. "I live for those who love me. For those who know me true. For the heaven that smiles above me And waits my spirit too; For the cause that lacks assistance! For the wrong that needs resistance | For the future in the distance, I And the good that I can do.” Besides the bereft husband there survive her the following sorrowing children: Raymond Barber, of Warren. Ohio; Cora Mumma. of Warren. Ohio; Gertrude Barber, of Fort| Wayne; Ada Brandyberry, or Decatur: and Stella Andrews, of War-* ren, Ohio. One son. Leonard, is de-1 teased. 'Then there are the follow-’ ing step-children who mourn: John Fairchild, of Warren. Ohio: Dora Fairchild, of South Bend. Ind Thomas Fairchild, of Decatur: Mrs. Roy Raker, of Decatur: and Enoch Fairchild, of South Bend. Os a lirge family of children there is but one surviving brother. Benton ‘ Gregg, of Alhambra.
