We were grieved to learn Saturday of the accidentia! death of Ross Hurd, former Huntington sport writer, which occured in an automobile accident in Ohio Friday. Mr. Hurd conducted a sport column entitled “Sport Ho-t Shots,” in the Huntington Press last year and we enjoyed many exchanges of squibs and opinions during the football season. Mr." Hurd was sports editor of a Mansfield, Ohio.

Oct. 20. —Northwestern’s disappointing defeat at the hands of Purdue left the team in good physical condition, and the morale of Coach Thistlewaite eleven arose today. The men believe they lost on "boners” and will brace for the coming games, the next of which is with the Michigan Aggies.

U. Has Two Weeks To Prepare For Northwestern Bloomington, Ind., Oct. 20.—Turning into the home stretch of the 1924 football season. Coach Ingram plans this week to instruct the Indiana university gridiron squad in several new plays and formations and perfect them in daily scrimmages with the freshman teams next week. An open date next Saturday will give the Crimson players a chance to concentrate on perfecting their plays before the Northwestern game which is scheduled at Evanston Nov. 1.
