Bank Files Sults Two complaints on notes were tiled in the circuit court yesterday 'afternoon by the Bank of Geneva. One suit was against Earl Meshberger et al for $65.50 and the other ; against Earl Meshberger et al for i $7728.50. Wade L. Manley, of GeIneva, Is attorney for the plaintiff. Special Judge Appointed In the ease of John E. Mann vs. lu ora E. Mann, Judge Jesse C. Sutton ’’declined further jurisdiction in |the case, since he had been of, •counsel for the defendant, prior to i his appointment as judge. The court nominated Attorneys Henry B. Heller, C. L. Walters and Ferd I* Liti terer from which the two parties were to select u special judge. The names of Mr. Heller and Mr. Litt terer were stricken from the list by

Case Dismissed The case of the Monroe State , Hank vs. Edward Leisure et al has been dismissed and the costs paid. Jury Trials Postponed Owing to the illness of Court Reporter H. M. DeVoss, the cases of the state against Melvin Hirschy and Albert Ixirthofer, two Berne youths, and the state against Amos D Buckmaster, former Linn Grove bank cashier, which were set for trial before a jury in the circuit court on Wednesday, nave been continued Hirschy and Kirchofer face two charges, one for public intoxication and one for disturbing a public meeting. Buckmaster faces grand jury in dictments charging him with larceny and embezzlement and an officer overdrawing his bank acount. Inventory Filed An inventory and appraisement has been filed by the receiver in the case of Eli W. Steele vs. Charles N. Martin. To Re-appraise Stock In the estate of Joshua Sprungcr a petition was filed for an order of the court to re-appraise shares of stock in the Progress Store, at Berne and the Enterprise Store, at Monroe The jietiiton was sustained by the court and the re appraisement was ordered. - Estate Settled In the estate of Perry Andrews, the final report was filed and approved by the court. The administsator was discharged and the estate adjudged settled. Files Final Report The final report of Thomas Griffiths. surviving partner of Barger and Griffiths, has been filed. The report was approved by the , court, the surviving partner was discharged and the estate was adjudged settled. Widow Gets Estate In the estate of Charles Lamtniman the executrix filed a 1 eport showing that the entire estate of the decedent was worth less than SSOO and that the widow of the decedent is living and entitled to a share in the estate. The <ourt ordered the entire estate vested in Bertha L. Lindhorst, the widow. To Determins Inheritance Tax In th estate of Charles Lammiman, a petition has been filed to determine the inheritance tax. A hearing on the petition Mill be held on October 17. New Guardian Appointed In the guardianship of Leona Pickett, a repot t of the death of the guardian and a final report was filed by I Emma J. Burley, executrix of the ; will of Ardon S. Burley, former guardian. but now deceased. The report was approved by the court and Emma J. Burley was appointed guardian of the ward. The guardian was authorized to pay to her ward, the ba'ance < f her estate. To Sell Real Estate In the guardianship of George A. Zimmerman, a petition Mas filed by the guardian to sell the real estate belonging to the ward. The court sustained the petition and ordered 'he real estate sold at private sale. Lawrence L. Yager and Wilbert Lugenbill were appointed appraisers. Q Lull In Fighting In Chinese Civil War Today (United Press Service) Shanghai. Sept. 23 — Lu Yung Hsiang plans to withdraw his 'i Chekiang troops to within two miles of the foreign settlements of Shanghai thus drawing 'shells from Chi Hsieh Yuan's artillery upon the international quarters, it was reported today. By this move. Lu hopes to cause foreign intervention favorable to himself. j There was a lull in fighting on all fronts this morning. Including those in the north. The four commanders were busy readjusting their battle I lines and bringing up reinforcementsI Positions before Shanghai were unchanged. Six hundred white Russian refugees joined Chi’s army. o - Local Rebekah Lodge To Entertain Visitors The Rebekah lodge of Decatur will entertail* the Geneva and Ft. Wayne Rebekahs at the local hall this evening. Supper will be served to at least 75 out-of-town guests, after which initiation ceremonies will be held, the Fort Wayne degree staff being in charge. The meeting will be held at the I. O. O. F. hall and local members are urged and invited to be in attendance and extend a welcome to the visiting Rebekahs.

It Is likely that two or three Decitur people will attend the meeting. The session will open at 8 o’clock Saturday evening, October 4. Dr. W. ('. Van Nuys, chairman of the local executive committee, will preside. The program for Saturday night includes an address of welcome, a response, an address by the state presij deni. Senator C. O. Holmes, of Gary, i and n address on "Training for Social Work," by Prof. U. G. Weatherly. A mass meeting will be held on Sunday afternoon, beginning at 3 o'clock. Addresses will be made by, Governor Emmett F. Branch and Bish ' ( op F. D. Leete, of -the Methodist ' church. : I A general session will be held on I Sunday evening, beginning at 7:45 j o'clock. The do: nations are to be left at the Niblick building, corner of Second and Monroe streets, Friday afternoon or Saturday anytime after nine o'clock. The fruit donated last year was greatly appreciated by the patents in the hospital. (
