' o SCOUTS HAVE ■' FOOTBALL TEAM Also Organize Drum Corps; Will Give Benefit Movie 1 On October Ist i A football team has been organized I by the Decatur Boy Scouts, and practices have been started. Harold Zwick was elected captain of the team. The Scouts will issue a challenge to any team in the city composed of players their age for a game to be played this fall. Linn and Gail Kern have been assisting Scoutmaster Bryce Thomas in coaching the boys this week. A scrimmage was held on Ahr’s Field yesterday evening, with twenty-eight trying out for the first team. The Scouts have organized a drum corps, also. There are six snare drums and a bass drum in the corps. The junior tennis tournament, sponsored by the scouts, is now in the semi-finals. The Scouts will award a loving cup to the winner. Six members of the Rotary Club attended the regular meeting of the Scouts Monday night and gave short talks. The Rotarians also brought the Scouts a half bushel of fresh roasted peanuts. A room in the basement of the Central school building has been fixed up

I for Scout headquarters and their meetings will be held there this winter. A benefit moving picture show will be given by the Scouts at the Adams Theatre on October 1. S. eleven faces a difficult schedule this season and since several members of last year's team were graduated last spring, Coach Kennedy faces a big task in whipping a formidable team into shape. However. the coach says he has some very good material with which to work and with the right sort of training on the part of the athletes and the support of the fans, he expects to be able to place a fairly strong team on the field. The first game of the season will be played with the Wabash high school team at Wabash on September 20, one week from next Saturday. This game was added to the schedule this week.
