I Vader the proposed Employes Plan all employes of the company will have a voice in jettons affecting their relations with the company, including questions of hours compensation and working conditions. The ‘•constitutional convention” is composed of delegates elected by the employes, ud an equal number appointed by the management. The delegates have a draft of the proposed constitution which will be considered carefully section by section. The constitution will create territorial councils representing various groups of cities served by the company, which will be composed of an equal number of members elected by the employes and an equal number appointed by the management. These councils will pass on all questions involving the relations of the employes and the company and a general council will be created to which appeals may be taken. Plans for the establishment of the Employes Representation Plan in the Northern Indiana Gas and Electric Company were announced in July, •nd a •‘constitutional convention” of employes of the northern division of the company was held in Hammond on July 22. Employe representation plans of a similar character are in successful operation in the Commonwealth Edliou Company and The Peoples Gas Light and Coke Company of Chicago, and the Public Service Company of Northern Illinois, which also are under the management of Samuel Instill and associates. — —- Addition Is Built To Old Ladies’ Home Lafayette, Ind., Sept. 4.—According to an announcement from Frank Wettell, superintendent, a new addition to the home for old women has been I completed and the management will' receive applications for admittance to I the place. Mr. Felty stated there may be a change in one or two schools, however. he believes that nearly ail the teachers will serve in the schools as named in the above order. Preferred Stock In (Jas Company Is All Sold Sale of Class ‘‘A” 7 per cent Preferred Stock of the Northern Indiana Gas and Electric company has closed, according to an announcement made today, a total of $6,000,000 worth of these securities having been sold during the last ten months. The company today has 15,298 stockholders including those who are buying the securities on the monthly savings plan. More than half of that number are fully paid up stockholders. A large percentage of the stockholders are customers and employes of the company. The stock is widely distributed, the average number of shares held being oply four per stockholder. Employes i of the company who are stockholders ' number 1.239, or 74 per cent of all the ' employes. > Sale of tlie securities began last . fall, a few months after Samuel Insult and associates assumed management of the company. In selling the. company’s securities to its custo-j mers and employes the new management followed out the customer and employe ownership plan which has proved so successful in other companies under the. same management and in other public utility companies | throughout the country. The sale was conducted by public utility employes, who were divded ■ into stock selling teams. There were many competitive contests between; these teams and the employes of the various cities served by the company. Women employes took an active part in the campaign, and the reports show that 288 women employes sold a total of 3,566 shares of the stock. During the last six weeks a special drive was made for the purpose of getting as many employes as pos-| sible to sell one or more shares dur-; ing that period, and 34 per cent of the employes participated in this whirlwind finish of the stock selling campaign.
