Ohio, after spending the week end with Mrs. Lee Meyers, south of the city. Mrs. L. A. Peltz and daughter. Daphine, of Lima, Ohio, are guests of Mrs. Meyers of south of the city. Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Hutchenson and sons. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Eley, of Portland. and Mrs. Clarence wagum. of Fort. Wayne, spent Sunday in this city. North Conyers spent Sunday at Portland with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Burdg. of Mercer avenue and their guests, Mrs. .1. I). Garman and little son. Joe. of Poplar Bluff. Mo., motored to Marlon Sunday morning and spent the day with William J. Burdg and family. Mr. Burdg underwent a very serious operation, his second operation within a few months, at the Grant County hospital, ten days ago. He was taken to his home in Marion last Thursday and is recovering very . well. Within the next few weeks he expects to go ou a vacation trip to Wisconsin lakes with Dr. Cameron, of Marion.

Banquet for Members A profus'xiu of pink roses and daisies with dainty nut cups and place cards formed the table decora tlms for the banquet which was giv on by the members of the So Che Ilea Club al the Murray hotel last even ng in honor of their five pledges who are the Misses Alice Kre'gel Catherine Ont lor, Helena Meyers, and Mesdiimcs Clyde Butler and R. C Keller. During the elaborate four course dinner the pledges wore fancy dunce caps of green and white vyith “So Cha Rea" written across the front. Following the dinner the guests went to the Elk's Hall, which had the appearance of a beaut ful flower garden. A vari colored Japanese parasol suspended from the center electrolier. Japanese lanterns, electric torches and floor lamps added greatly to the attractiveness of the room. Tables were arranged and the guests played f vo hundred, prizes being won by the Misses Catherine Omlor and Helen Gass. A musical program was given by Miss Geraldine Brandyberry and Miss Gertrude Yager read several selections. Tim guests were invited to the dining room where delictius two course luncheon was served. A wishing well banked witli massive pink roses and sweet peas formed the centerpiece and tiny baskets filled with rose buds marked each guest's placet. Pink and white streamers suspended from the electrolier and were fastened w tli dainty bows at the corners of the table. Pink and white tapers were held n silver holders and furnished the light dur ing tlie luncheon. The junior department alone is worth having, separate from the Chautauqua. Many Tickets Sold During the closing days of the Chautauqua here 328 season tickets at $3.00 each were pledged by the patrons. Dr. Fred Patterson then started out and within the last ten days has secured pledges tor another hundred tickets. It is hoped that at least 600 tickets can be sold before the Chautauqua opens next year thus assuring the financial success of the undertaking and at the same time create a profit, which will be turned over to the Civic Section of the Wo-
man's Club. Dr. Patterson, Rev. Thompson, Raymond Hatting and ' others will solicit more tickets and signatures ou tlje guarantee agree-) rnent this week and those who wish) to get on the band-wagon are asked to do it now.
