State and Federal veterinarians in authorizing the restocking of formerly infected premises, however, are taking every precaution, including the use of test animals. The purpose of such animals, which are generally a fewhogs or calves, is to make certain that there is no dormant infection before additional stock Is brought on to the farms. Department veterinarians are supervising also the feeding or other disposal of hay cut on premises which formerly contained animals infected with foot and mouth disease.
