The People’s Voice ■ ■ i . i —— Mrs. Furman Writes St. Petersburg, Fla. , March 10, 1934 ' Editor of the Daily Democrat. Dear Sirr^ Thinking perhaps some of my friends would like to know how some of the lime goes, while in the "Sunshine (“ity." I thought perhaps a description of a little trip, we had tho pleasure of taking, with a party of twenty tourists last Friday, might be of interest. It was a twenty mile boat trip across Tampa Ray to laindy p,ridge, which is being built, by northern capital at a cost of two million dollars. to shorten the route between St. Petersburg and Tampa, the distance now by road being about fifty miles. When this bridge is finished, the distance from the St. PtHershurg Post Office to tho Post Office in Tampa will lie seventeen miles. The causeways at idther end, are three and one half miles, long and forty feet wide, making the ieugth of the bridge two and one huif miles long and twenty four ft, wide inside the bridge. I A fee of seventy-five cents for | Auto and driver, and ten cents fori each person at each end of the bridge will be charged. It being a toll bridge. A street car track through the center and driveway on each side. Will be one of the most brilliantly lighted bridge in the world. Tlie lights being two hundred ami eighty feet apart, they are especially made for tlie Lnndy ltriilg * by the General I-Tlei trie Co. The sand is all shipped in for Hu: concrete and none hut expert men are employed. Expect to have it finished by the first of June. MRS. Jennie Forman.
