Staff Correspondent) Little Rock, Ark., Feb. 1 (Special to Dally Democrat) —Three gunmen and murderers awaiting electrocution at the stale penitentiary here, escap <•<l today. They overpowered and kid miped Warden Hump Martin, fleeing in liis aulomoliile. Tlie warden entered the “death cell’’ to talk to the prisoners Emory ! Connell, Joe Sullivan and Eulos Sullivan when tlie three attacked Idin. They wore armed with revolvers and shotguns which had I smugIgled into the prison. They bundled i the warden into his automobile and made their escape past prison guards. o Band Players To Meet At Moose Home Monday A meeting of all band musicians in the city has been called for next Monday evening at 8 o’clock nt the Moose , Home on Third street. Plans will be .discussed for the organization of a 'band for the coming Reason. The city has no band at present, since tlie General Electric band disbanded a few [months ago. There is a good number of musicians in tlie city and it is believed a first (lass organization can be formed. All who are Interested in the affair are urged to attend the meeting Monday night. 9 to 13. Ship Sinks In Ohio River Paducah, Ky., Feb. 1 —(Special to Daily Democrat)—A tow boat was on the way durly today to the aid of 30 persons, passengers and crew of the steamer Tom C. Powell stranded on tlie top deck of the steamer in the middle of the Ohio river eight miles above Paducah. The craft sank during the night When heavy Ice flows tore a hug • hole in her hull. The boat settled on a sand bar, keeping the top deck above water. Several women and children were put Into a rowboat and landed safely on tli - Kentucky shore of the river.
