W. 11. O’Brien, local manager of the Northern Indiana Gas and Electric company and Jack Monnihan, manager of the Bluffton office were at Ko. komo yesterday where they joined other managers and officials of the company and banqueted as guests of the Kokomo Chamber of Commerce. The Northern Indiana Gas & Electric Co. last summer purchased a gas plant at Kokomo an<| has installed a new plant, greatly bettering the service. Mrs. Dan Tyndall went to Fort Wayne to spend the day with relatives. The steady rains of the past three days have softened the roads and in I many places it is said that heavy traffic cannot pass over them. The rains have also prevented the farmers from completing the corn husking, but brighter mid colder days are coming and before long we’ll be digging our-, selves out of the snow. Herman L. Miller and W. S. Lockwood of Wells county won prizes at the international z corn show at Chicago yesterday. Peter Lux again carries} off the national prize in the senior class and his soil won the juvenile prize. . William Rfryerj, of Washington township, was a business visitor in the city today. Christmas. The Corinthian class of the Chris- ; tian church held their regular meeting at tho Philadelphia last evening, being entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Andrews. This being the end ' of the class year the election of officers for the ensuing year was the first business to be disposed of. Miss Vera Eady, former president of the class, was re-elected. Miss Vivian Burk was elected vice-president and Miss Florence Liehtenstiger secre-tary-treasurer. Miss Liehtenstiger has been acting as secretary-treasur-er for some time. The secretary’s report showed that almost $75 was realized from the selfdenial day held November 25th. All plans for the Bazaar which is to be opened Saturday at the Philadelphia were completed. All members of tho class will kindly remember that all gifts are to be at the Philadelphia this Friday evening, so that the arrangements of the booths and ticketing of articles can bo completed before Saturday. Fifty Horses Die In Fire Joliet, 111., Dec. s.—Fifty horses perished in a tire which destroyed the <'roughwell Livery company stable Imre today.
