Meedames Bess Erwin, Gertrude Hite, Cora Downs and Margaret Lose very ably assisted Mrs. Kohne in presenting the clever and entertaining play "Two Crooks and a Lady." The next meeting will be December 17th. at tbe Library and the Music department will have charge of the program. • * The Research Club will meet Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. James Kocher on Adams street, who will also have charge of the program. Mrs. Kocher has chostfn "Educating Illiterate America.” as her subject. The members of the Rebecca lodge will meet this evening tor the election of officers and a large attendance is requested. By order of Noble Grand. The Ladies* Al<l Society of the Reformed church will hold a bazaar December sth at the American Security company. Many useful things suitable for Christmas gifts pill be on sale. There will be handkerchief booth and one filled with Chinese cross stitch and embroidery work. Miss Bessie Martz was pleasantly surprised last evening at the home of her parents on Jefferson street by about fifteen of her girl friends and her Sunday school teacher, the occasion being her fifteenth birthday anniversary. Everybody enjoyed the evening very much. Miss Martz was presented with a very pretty ring as a token of friendship. ★ There will be no meeting of the Shakespeare club this week on account of the Thanksgiving vacation. The meeting was to have been held at the home of Mrs. D. D. Heller. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. W. A. I»wer, a week from tomorrow. z * The Corinthian Bible class of the Christian Bible school will have a gift booth in the Philadelphia CandA Kitchen during the two weeks prior to Christmas. Many things suitable for Xmas gifts, will be on sale. The booth will be opened on Saturday. December Sth. ♦ \ An allday social event is being planned for Thanksgiving Day by the Pythian Sisters. The affair will be held in the Knights of Pythias home on Third street and all Pythian Sisters and members of their families are invited. Each family is asked to bring one chicken and two other articles of food for the meal. A very enjoyable event is anticipated. Plans and preparations are being made for the private Thanksgiving dance which is given annually by the members of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority. The music will be furnished by “Billy’s Syncopators,” with the grand march starting at nine o'clock. The committee in charge oemposed of Miss Naomi Durkin, chairman, Mesdames Chalmer Schafer, E. G. Coverdale, and the Misses Virgene Smith and Toots Keller have planned many surprises for the sorority members and their guests. The dance will be held at the Masonic Hall, Thursday evening. Several out-of-town guests will be in attendance. ★ Mesdames E. F. Gass, Mat Harris and H. E. Heller will unite/in entertaining at a six o’clock dinner and five hundred party this evening at the Harris home on Madison street. Several guests have been invited. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Gause, of Short street, had as their guests at Sunday dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Draper, and daughter Noris Irene, of Poe; Mr. and Mrs. William Klusmann. and son, Roy; Mrs. Mary Laisure, of Hoagland; Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Drake and son Clyde, of east o fthe city; and William Draper and daughters, Florence, Stella and Helen, of this city. The Ladies of the Research club entertained their husbands and a few other guests Hfst evening with a dinner and program at the K. of P. home. At 6:30 o’clock a delicious two-course dinner was served by the Pythian Ladies. TTTe tables were beautifully decorated in yellow and. white with crystal candelabra tied with white tulle and holding yellow tapers. The dainty place cards were in keeping
