Meland after he had been denied a moiion for a new Vial by Special Judge I'Ted H. Shoaff in the circuit court. Meland filed an appeal bond in the amount of SI,OOO with Martin Fahlsing as surety. Meland is charged with securing the signature of Joseph ino Noonan, a former client to a note under false pretenses:* He wast tried by the late Judge John C. Moran, of Decatur, and was found guilty.
