The Fourth Down By Willie Punt On to IxiganHport. Ixt’s shake that «way-from-home Jinx. For some time a j |nx 1,118 boen follo * ,n & t!,e Yellow Jacket teams in their gurnet away from home. This year we have a bunch of fighters ami a tiptop coach. Good-bye, old man jinx, goodbye. A basketball column called “Tip Orts" has been started in the Bluffton News by N. Recd. Congratulations Mr. Reed, and may you survive all criticism. If you don’t mind, -vc Will call you "Tippy” for short. Our old friend, Out Os Bounds, who blew off a lot of hot air through the columns of the Bluffton Banner during the last year’s basketball campaign. has not made his appearance yet this fall. We hope he returns. Our friend Leadpencil, of Wabash Times-Star fame, is picking Purdue to beat Chicago Saturday, from 3 to 6 points. There must be a former Wabash high school star on the Purdue team. Purdue may win, and we hope she docs, but Leady must be relying on hopes and not dope when he picks that winner. C. C. H- 8. defeated Payne, Ohio, yesterday, 18-0. A previous game between the two elevens this fall re suited in a 12-12 tie. Both are powerful teams. Local fans will have an opportunity of seeing one of the fastest high school teams in the state I in action when the C. C. I|. S. eleven comes to Decatur to play the Local Catholic high team, on Friday, November 2. And the locals will make it interesting for the Fort Wayne boy ~ too, we believe. Have you seen the first issue of the Basketball World? They're off | the press. This publication, which is printed at Frankfort, is full of items of interest to basketball fans. Portland will sure be a blue town if the Muncie Bt»ar Cats win Saturday’s game. We hope Portland win : ,! but we are doping the Bear Cats to cop the honors. There, very likely, will be a chapgc made in the standing of the Wabash Valley conference Safuydgy. Iluntington, now in fourth position, will tackle the Peru Tigers, who are tied with the Yellow Jackets for the leu 1 at present, while the Yellow Jackets will play the Logansport Red Devils, who are in the cellar birth. South Side, the other membar of t|ie conference, plays at Indianapolis. IF — Huntington lives up to their coach's prediction and beats Peru, and the Yellow Jackets defeat Logansport. Decatur will be perched on the top of thu heap by dark, Saturday evening.
