K. OF P. PLANS I SOCIAL AFFAIR Open House for Members and Their Families On Thursday Evening. Members of the local Knights of Pythius lodge and their families are planning to have a very enjoyable evening at the Pythian home on Third street Thursday evening. It will be open house for the knights and their families. Members of the Geneva and Berne lodges have been invited to attend, also, A regular meeting of the lodge will be held at 7:30 o'clock. At this meeting a county deputy will be elected by the deputies of the three lodges. The present county deputy is George Ineichen. of Geneva. The meeting will not last more than thirty minutes. it iw predicted. Following the meeting the house will be opened for the guests. Games and contests will be participated in and refreshments will be served. This is the first of several similar social gatherings planned by a social committee recently appointed by the local lodge. This affair was postponed from Thursday evening of last! week on account of the death of Vernon L. McGonagle, a member of the order. Movie At Monroe H. S. Asks Dismissal of Suit Against Ku Klux Klan Indianapolis, Oct. 24. —Dismissal of the injunction suit filed against the Ku Klux Klan by six residents of South Bend was asked in a motion filed in federal court today by L. Ert Slack, attorney for the defendant. Lack of jurisdiction of the court and insufficiency of the complain were given as the basis of the motion. o Former Commander of State G. A. R. Is Dead (United I Tess Service) Spencer. Ind.. Oct. 24. —David E. Deem, former commander of the Indiana department of the G. A. R., died here yesterday following a stroke ot paralysis. He was a graduate of Indiana uni versity. class of 1860, and had practiced law in Owen county for many years. He was promoted to captaincy during the civil war for bravery in action. . . —• More Prisoners Transferred To New State Reformatory (United Press Service) Pendleton. Ind., Oct. 24. —Officials of the Indiana State reformatory today transferred 50 more prisoners from Jeffersonville to the new reformI atory here, bringing the total numI ber of prisoners here to 550. The trustees will meet at Jeffersonville tor the last time early in November to make arrangements for the transfer old old prison property to Colgate and company, who will operate a soap foctory in the building. Home-Coming At Mt. Pleasant Church, Sunday, Nov. 4 j Home-coming will be celebrated at the Mt. Pleasant church northwest of the city on Sunday, November 4. There will be church services in the forenoon and a big basket dinner at noon. Another service will be held in the afternoon, at which time a short program will be given. Many former members of the churh are expected to return for the home-coming. —. • Vincennes Is Dry Now Vincennes. Ind., Oct. 24. —Old Vincennes is dry today. Federal authorities have just completed the task of removing 125 barrels of whiskey—some of it 15 years old—from the old distillery here to government warehouses at Louisville. The shipment was the last of the wet goods under government guard here. Investigates Accident Muncid, Ind.. Oct. 24. —A grand jury investigation of the auto accident here two weeks ago which caused the death of Miss Matilda Shrout, 23, was asked by Coroner J. F. Downing in his verdict filed today. He charges that Jesse Lawson was responsible for the accident and that Lawson was intoxicated and driving at a furious speed when the crash happened.
