The Misses Celia Andrews and Naomi Meyers motored to Marion, Ohio, to attend the funeral services of Warren G. Harding. Ham Blackburn attended a-, funeral] and each promised the other that the one which outlived the other would pay last, respects by attending the funeral. Uncle Billy Blackburn sei-, don missed attending the last services of those who di'-d in this community and often when there were but a half dozen mourners he was one of thorn. Earl Coble, editor of the Redkey Times visited here an hour this morn ] ing. He reports that the second bank failure there within a month occurred yesterday. Plans are being made now to open an entirely new bank. Tony Forbing, of Milford, Indiana, an old newspaper man and still in the game, was here today. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Bell and son. Billy, motored to Fraukliji, Indiana today. Mr. Bell will return tomorrow while Mrs. Bell and sen will after visiting in Franklin several days go to Indianapolis for a short visit. WARNS AGAINST TYPHOID FEVER Health Commissioner J. M. Miller has received Word from the state board of health to warn the people against unsanltation because of the . probability of much typhoid fever this , I fall and winter.
Dr. Miller was instructed to report on the condition of the parks and the tourist camp and he was pleased to report that they are in excellent condition as far as health is concerned. The report to the health commission states, that one person in every thousand is a typhoid germ carrier ami that there is always danger of the disease spreading. To prevent an epidemic, breeding places of flies and mosquitos should be done away with and public gathering places kept as sanitary as possible. o — Faces Charge Os Wife And Child Desertion Hobert Andrews, was arested in Fort Wayne and returned to this city yesterday by Sheriff John Baker, to answer to a charge of wife and child desertion. Mayor DeVoss fixed his bond at SSOO, which was furnished. His case was set for a hear-
ing on August 27. The charges against Andrews were filed by his fathe ( r-itv-law, William Saufbein, who resides west of Berne. Andrews has a wife and two children. Mrs. Andrews has been in the hospital for week and the children were at Mr. Andrews’ parents home, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Andrews, until recently, Mr. Andrews is a fireman on the Pennsylvania railroad, working out of Fort Wayne. He claims that he has been paying his wife’s hospital bill. Mrs. Andrews and the two children are now at her parents’ home. Adams county young man. who was arrested here Tuesday and returned to Bhiftton to lace a charg of forgery, entered a plea of guilty when arraigned ’in court before Justice Walbert and was bound over to the Wells circuit court under bond of SI,OOO. Biberstejjl has admitted that he forged a (heck for $13.20 on the Maier Hide and Fur company, of this city, and cashed the same at the Hubner meat market in Biulfton. He has been unable to furnish bond aixl is confined tn the Blufiton jail. i
