Accident Saturday Night A small automobile accident or- ( cured on the cement road near the Hellmont park entrance Saturday ' night. Dick Erheart and another young man had stopped their ears and they were talking. Erheart's car had the two right wheels off the road, it is said, and the other car was parked near it. Fred Hockemeyer approached from tire rear and failed to see the two cars stopped along the road. His car crashed into the rear of the other two cars, pushing the Erheart car into the ditch. The cars were damaged somewhat and Hockemeyer received a cut on his chin when his steering wheel struck him. The drivers of the two cars stopped on the road declare they had their light burning. Ford Sedan Overturns A Ford sedan, belonging to Omlor brothers, residing south of Decatur, turned over about three miles south of here Saturday night, when it struck fresh stone on the road. No one was seriously injured and the car was not damaged greatly, Immigrants Arrive In U. S. (Continued from page one) Three Thousand at Boston Boston, Mass., July 2.—lmmigration officials today resumed the task of shifting several thousand immigrants who arrived on four steamships since Sunday morning. Nearly 3,000 prospective entrants to the United States poured the steamships Adriatic and President Fillmore when they docked. Five Hundred at Detroit Detroit. July 2.—(Special to Daily Democrat) —Five hundred foreigners stormed the immigration office here yesterday and were admitted to the United States under quotas allowed for the fiscal year. As many more would-be immigrants were expected to apply today and on the rest of the days of the week, according to Dr. P. L. Frantis, director of immigration here. Trustees Hold Meeting All of the twelve township trustees in Adams county were present at the regular monthly meeting held in the office of E. S. Christen, county superintendent, this morning. A number of educational matters, pertaining to supplies, courses of study, and a uniform date for opening of school next fall, were discussed. The date for opening school has not been chosen yet. Many of the teachers have not been employed yet, it was learned at the meeting today. There are many applicants for positions, it is said. The trustees have until the opening of school to employ teachers, but it is thought that most of them will be employed soon, as the most efficient instructors will be under contract before long.

Seek Higher Wheat Price (United Press Service) Chicago, July 2. —(Special to Daily Democrat) —The national wheat council, organized following the progressive wheat conference here, today launched a campaign to increase wheat prices through greater consumption. The council will also seek to keep production even with the demand, according to Congressman Sydney Anderson, Minnesota. “The problem is one of bringing the control of wheat prices within our own country.” lie said.
