The United States Army has purchased eight prints of the film lor Its own use. Polo clubs, horse associations, riding clubs, artillery schools, Young Men's Christian Associations, county agents and numerous other organizations and Individuals have either purchased or borrowed the film for educational use. Among officials who have taken particular interest in the picture is General Pershing, whose charger Is one of the horses used in making the picture. / The film shows clearly how a horse handles his legs at the different gaits. In the opinion of a livestock specialist of the Teffits Agricultural College, the film has an educational value which : descriptive matter alone can not give J clearly. His students, he said, learned more about the ait ion of horses in 15 minutes from seeing the film than they learned in all the time they spent in college. o Were They Red? — Boonville, June, 20.—Ora Davis. Grover Cleveland Bergdell,' was re arrested charged with conspir-; acy to evade the draft, as he stepped from the federal penitentiary here today. Bergdell, plainly showing the effects of his long confinement, was released from prison shortly before 12 o'eloi k. after serving three years for evading tho draft laws. •— Murderer Tries To Escape ■ (United Press Service) Valparaiso, hid.. June 20. —(Special to Daily Democrat) Close watch was kept over Harry Diamond, awaiting death in the Porter county jail for the ( ■murder ot his wife. A guard last night found a bar over the window in the condemned man's ■ cell, cut through and a saw hidden in ' a sewer trap. County authorities immediately took precautions to keep Diamond closely guarded and started a hunt for the accomplice who smuggled him : the saw. Diamond will go to the electric [ chair on Oct. 12. — o Heat Kills Five More Chicago, June 20. —(Special to Daily Democrat)—Five more deaths caused by (lie heat wave, bringing the total to 13, in the last three days, were reported over night here. The mercury continued around 90 today. The hot weather was said to be prevalent over most ot the middlewest. o New Portland Councilman Charles ("Sab") Thomas was elected by the city council to fill the vacancy made by the resignation of Glen Arbaugh as councilman from the Second ward.
