OLDEST CITIZEN OF BERNE DIES Mrs. Isaac Brim Reaches Age of 92 Years Before Being Summoned ! — I Mrs. Isaac Grim, age !t2 years, the ; Wildest resilient of Berne, died Sunday morning following an illness of several months of infirmities of old age. In addition to being the oldest resident of Berne, Mrs. Grim held the distinction of being one of the oldest I citizens of Adams county. Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock this afternoon from the home ih Berne, and interment was made in the M. It. R. cemetery. Katherine Mifler Grim was the daughter of Jacob J. and Catherine Miller. Sin" was born in Wayne county Ohio, on January 19, 1831. When site was only a small child she came with her parents to this conn 1 ly, her parents settling on a farm near Vera Cruz. Mrs. Grim’s mother was the first lady physician in j Adams county. j When site was still a young woman, she was married to t’lrich tier ig. This union was blessed with seven chihlcn, two of whom have pre1. ceded their mother in death. They | were Edward Gerig and Bertha, wife of Henry Meyer of Berne. Her first ' husband also preceded her in death. Sh“ was married a second time about fifty years ago to Isaac Grim, I Her husband survives her. Two 'children who are still living were born to Mr. and Mrs. Grim. Beside her husband the following children survive her by her first marriage: Eliza wife of Benedict Moser !of Bluffton: Rosa Avife of Frank Moil sure of Vera Cruz; Mary, wife of Dunj iel Amstutz, of Ft. Recovery, O.; Dr. Ohritina Kuntz and Catherine, wife •of Ulysses Stauffer both of Berne. The children by her second marriage I are Mary, wife of Hosea Martz, of : Berne, and John Grim, of Michigan, j At an early age Mrs. Grim be- | came a Christian and joined the .Evangelical church. She has always j lived a true Christian life to the very end. o ■ Army Recruiting Officer Working in Decatur Now Sergeant John Kane, of the U. S. Army Recruiting Station, Fort Wayne, arrived in Decatur yesterday afterI noon to spend a few days here in an effort to obtain a fpw recruits for the I army. Segeant Kane will be in De]catur in the afternoons and evenings for the next four days. His headquarters will he at the local postI office.
