Tomorrow is Friday the Thirteenth and it's a lucky or unlucky day as you make it. After all it's up to you. It's figured out that there was more than fifteen million dollars appropriated by the recent legislature which was not recommended by the head of the slate budget, Jesse Eshbach. No wonder he is mad. Every tax payer ought to be just as sore about it. Tree Planting Week starts tomor row. There should be one hundred per cent cooperation in this work for its worth while and it entered into by. every on" means much. Plant a tree,! “HERE IN DECATUR” What ORIGINAL VINOL has dor. for you. My complexion is the envy of countless young girls, and the marvel of millions of women. For I. remember, have been 32 years a stage star, and am still. Mine is a grandmother s age. Yet my skin is Just as soft and rosy, just as smooth and blooming, as 40 years ago. Scores of my friends, on the stage and in society, have attained like results in my way. So I know that most women can do it, and I am going to help them if they wish. A new-type clay You read much now about complexibu clays. But those I see are crude and muddy, like I quit years ago. A French beauty expert first told me about clays. Then few women used them, so some of those women became the marvels of nations for their wonderful complexions. Now countless women use them. Clay is recognized as a prime essential of beauty at its best. Women wito omit clay cannot hope to compare with women who employ it. My exceptional results come from a new-type day, perfected by 20 years of scientific study, it is white, refined and dainty. And able experts have, found ways to give it manifold .effects. Where it excels It is found that only rare clays—certain mineral-laden clays — bring
shrub flowers, a gurdau, and help produce something new. That's what counts and you will be delighted with the pleasure you get in return. I!" 1 . 1 ■JIaeBLUILJH XL. u W. A. Klepper is a live citizen, a man who does things nut only tor his own business but for his community and his page advertisement ou “Plan to plant a tree" week iu yesterday’s paper is worthy the special attention of every citizen of this county. That is real progressiveness and Mr. Klepper does it sincerely. The best citizen is he who wants every one iu his community to be happy uud who above all else wants that community to be the best in every way and the most attractive in appearances of auy. Bill believes that from his toes to his head and he always helps to get results Jesse Eschbach lias given out his statement telling just what he said in his Terre Haute speech and what he meant and summed up it is that— The various departments of ludiaua can bo operated at from fifteen to forty percent less than they are, that several departments are useless and ought to be discarded, that millions of dollars appropriated by the last ]• islature should have been saved to the tax payers ami that the people ■ will have to soon grasp the real situation or many people will uot be able to meet the tax demands. YVe have •r • ued the same thiug for several and we believe the people will be aroused to real action soon. The !■ < at I< hioiatuie appl upi iated uiuney so lavishly that the people are stuun- < d but they will soon find out what uch recklessness means to them. At the last examination of eighth -mb- pupils for graduation iu Ad.i ■ county, there were only 19 made .i passing grade, although 216 took the examination. It is uot of record that the teachers employed in Adams eo.inty are iu any manner deficient that the pupils iu that county are unusually dull or stupid. Ou the contrary it is presumed that the teaching ci rps is up to standard, that the puI ds are ordinarily bright, and that there has been no particular distracion to account for the miserable lowing made. Evidently there is i underlying cause for the disgracei failure and if we do not miss our - jess, it is the came cause which has
the desired results. Modern science refines that clay—removes the useless mud. Then the clay is white and clean and dainty. Experts also find that, certain added factors give it multiplied effect. My White Youth Clay will be a revelation to you, as it A*as to me. I thought I knew all that clay can do, but 1 did not know one-tenth. It brings a new complexion, and quickly. Blackheads and blemishes disappear before, it. Dull skins gain a rosy bloom. Wrinkles become smooth. Many women, in 30 minutes seem to drop ten years. My gift to women Now I have arranged so that all who wish may get this perfect clay, exactly as I use it. And I am taking time in my busy life to urge them to employ it. Youth Clay does more for youth and beauty than anything I know. The results will amaze apd delight you. When you know them, nothing could induce you to go back. > All toilet counters sell Edna Waii lace Hopper’s White Youth Clay at 50c and $1 per tube. Also my Youth ’ Cream, which should' follow the clay. [ Also my Facial Youth—my liquid cleanser. Also my Hair Youth, which brought my luxuriant hair. My Beauty Book conies with each. For your own sake —please—go , learn-what this clay can do.
A. ! 1 h » 1 lE&kil wmcEHgpF • k I * ill * r jy El Telegrapher Athlete Among the entries in the annual indoor athletic meet of he Pennsylvantt railroad system at Columbus, Ohio, April 14. is W. W. Messel, telegraph operator in this city. Messel qualified for the System meet by placing in the shot put and the standing broad jump at the Northwestern Region meet in Chicago, last month. been operating so disastrously in other counties. To be sure, iu certain other counties al! too lenient superintendents have charitably closed their eyes to manifest deficiencies and have either prepared examinations that the veriest dumb-bells could pass or have deliberately passed many who have not made the grade. Iu Adams county, however, the ax has fallen relentlessly and there has been a showing of hands that hasn't looked good. Still, it is taken* for granted that iu Adams county justice has been done and that the pupils who have passed have made the grade, required and that no others have done so. Why then the deficiency? Is it too much to assert that the course of study prescribed is far too ambitious for the time alloted to master it? We fauey that this touches the root of the whole trouble. In the schools today there appears to be an ambition to cover all subjects in a minimum time and as a consequence we see the pupils being put madly through the courses in jig time, touching practically every subject from international law to domestic science before their infant footsteps have ciossed the borderlaud of youth. Adams county is merely suffering from frankness. Other counties would show up similarly if subjected to the same acid test. —Ft. Wayne News, eGirls!
