Mr. an<t Mrs. Roy Mumma and family very pleasantly surprised the latter's father. Mr. Lewis Jeffers, on the occasion ot his 68th birthday anniversary yesterday evening, at his home on South Winchester street. Mrs. Mumma went to her father's room early in the evening and had supper prepared when Mr. Jeffers returned home from work. Forgetting that yesterday was his birthday anniversary. Mr. Jeffers asked what it all meant. He was informed that he had reached another milestone in life's journey. Mr. and Mrs. Mumma and family presented Mr. Jeffers with a fine rocker. Mrs. A. J. Roop, of Toledo. Ohio, also sent him a gift. He received birthday greetings from several others. The Mummas departed late in the evening, wishing Mr. Jeffers many more happy birthdays and hoping that he would enjoy the rocker. ♦ The St. Vincent de Paul society will meet Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Herman Gillig. Refreshments were served by the hostess. , County Board of Education Met Today The township trustees and County E. S. Christen, com prising the Adams county board of education, met in the office of Mr. Christen in the court house this morning. Various matters relating to the county schools and the enumeration of school children were discussed. The enumeration will begin on April 10 and must be completed in twenty days. All of the trustees were present today.
