MONROE NEWS Rev. J. C. White, of the Simpson M. E. Church, Fort Wayne, filled the pulpit at the local M. E. church SunI day evening in the place of Rev. • Martin, District Superintendent, who ’is very ill. After preaching sei vice, 1 the regular quarterly meeting service > was conducted. ’ Mr. Joint W. McKean is confined to ' his hoirfe with an attack of the flu. Harman Osterman who has been I quite sick with pneumonia, is gaining strength. Mr. and Mrs. Forest Andrews have been confined to their home with the Ju since Saturday. Miss Martha Hofer, local telephone operator, returned to work Sunday after a week's illness. Miss Mary McKean relieved her during her illness. Miss Inez Parrish, local H. S. girl, is much improved and will return to school this week. Monroe lost to Decatur Friday after the gun was fired. From the indications Saturday morning the Monroe boys gave the Decatur boys all they could stand in the game Friday. It was mighty lucky /or Decatur that she had one boy on her team with a good mental attitude. Otherwise she would have lost to Monroe. Tile local members of the Epworth League attended a convention at 1 ieasant Mills Sunday afternoon. On [their return hero, they had a potluck supper at the M. E. parsonage, afterwards attending the evening services at the church.
