Miss Vivian Hendricks of Dayton, Ohio arrived here Saturday on a D w days’ visit with relatives and friends. The Monroe high school basketball team left for Fort Wayne, Saturday where they met and defeated the Central Catholic high school team by a score of 28 to 13. The Monroe quintet will play In the district tournament at Decntur next Friday and Saturday. So get busy and avail yourself of the opportunity of getting one of these books. Lynn Shirk, of Fort Wayne, spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Shirk. The condition of Harmon Osterman, who has been suffering during the past several weeks from a complication of diseases, is reported at this time to be unchanged. He is still quite sick. Wm. Stuckey, the harness man, is again at his shop after a several days’ tussel with the flu. The revival meetings are still in progress at the Friends church at this place. The highway leading from Monrle to Decatur is said to be in an almost Impassible condition at this time, on account of the recent snow and rains and trucks passing over them heavily loaded. It is said that in many places the road is cut entirely through. Many of our farmers are having public sales and will leave the farm to seek work at Fort Wayne. About all of our young men are employed in Decatur and Fort Wayne. Several years ago men were seeking farms to rent, and now farms are seeking men. Times have greatly changed. The Junior Epworth League of Monroe Methodist Episcopal church went to Pleasant Mills Sunday afternoon and gave a demonstration of the work they -are d«ing. Their program was very interesting and was enjoyed by all who heard it. Rev. Zechiel left Monday for Angola to attend the Fort Wayne district conference. Quite a crowd of the Methodist people attended services at Pleasant Mills Methodist church Sunday night. Rev. Zechiel is assisting Rev. Maupin in his revival meeting.
