Z Tile Indiana League of Women Voters is composed of 25,000 members. | Its slogan ia “Every Woman an Informed Voter." An appeal is being I made to the women of Decatur to join the league, which has chapters in many cities throughout the state. Any woman in Decatur or vicinity, who is interested in becoming a more intelligent voter is urgeci to join the league and is requested to telephone Mrs. Faye Smith Knapp, who will enroll, her name. Meetings for the purpose of studying government, citizenship,! egislation and other matters, will be idd once each month. The yearly dues of the league are fifty cents. The league purposes to tench the women to use their votes so they will count. The league Huhns ;o be non-partisan. ABOUT THE SICK Little John Carroll, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayson Carroll, is seriously tick with pneumonia. Mrs. Florence Bowers is the attending nurse. John Falk just returned from Hannibal. Missouri, where ne was called to the bedside of his eldest son. Glen, who has been in the Levering hospital for about two months. Mr. Falk reports his son's condition as very serious having been operated on for appendicitis. His condition being weakened by contracting typhoid fever and he is now suffering from an abscess on his right side. He was resting a little easier when Mr. Falk , left him yesterday morning. •
BAR CHECK MAN IS APPREHENDED Man Said To Be Wanted In Many Cities Is To Face Trial In This Place A man said to be wanted through-j out Indiana and in several cities in other states for passing fraudulent checks, was arrested in Fort Wayne, last night and is being returned to Decatur by Sheriff Sephus Melchi this evening to answer to a charge otj passing a fradulent check for $5 at lhe garage owned by Harvey Kitson in this city last week. The man is about 45 years old and gives the name of H. H. Heaton. Heaton has been working in var- ' tons cities, and the majority of the' I checks passed by him were for $37.80. He usually purchased gasoline for his automobile and gave one !of the checks in payment, pocketing j th® change. He is said to have pass'd one check for SIOO in Cincinnati, Ohio.
