Mr. ■Myers says there was not a crack [in the pumpkin and declares that in [all his life he has never seen anything of this kind. ('apt. W. H. Myers will visit relatives and friends at Fostoria and (other Ohio points over Thanksgiving. At the meeting of the G. A. IL last [Saturday it was decided to continue [ the post but nomination of officers was postponed until the December meeting. The Adams County Medical Society will meet this evening instead of last night as was announced in the Wednesday paper. Dan Niblick, W. A. Klepper and Carl Pumphrey motored to Ft. Major Ed Miller of this city left today for Danville, Illinois where he will enter the Old Soldiers Hospital. Mrs. Anna Droppieman and Mrs. C. L. Mr. and Mrs. Noah Mangold were called to the bedside of their son Art thur Mangold, East Haven Hospital, i Richmond. Tuesday, where ho has been suffering with paralysis of the . throat since the first of the week. , Mrs. Mangold remained with her son and Mr. Mangold returned home. Herman Koeneman of Preble township was a business visitor here today. Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Uffelman of Flat Rock, were shoppers here yesterday. Ths Rotary box social will begin !at six-thirty this evening at the Rotary rooms on Madison street, above the Bake-Rite shop. The wives and sweethearts of the Rotarians will be present and the boxes of good eats will be auctioned to the highest bidder. Messrs. Farmer and McKee of the Brotherhood of American Yeomen, who are in the city, today will be special guests at the entertainment. Coffee will be served by the entertainment committee. The annual Thanksgiving dinner given by the Ladies’ Aid society of the Evangelical church was well attended today.

Holthouse, of the Clover Leaf Creameries made a business trip to Bluffjon and Huntington yesterday. Rudolph Weiland, of east of the city, was in town today on business, - o Arthur Mangold Seriously 11l At Richmond Hospital Arthur Mangold, well known man of this city and for some years engaged in business here, is in a very critical condition at the Eastern Hospital at Richmond, where he lifts been a patent for two years past. His brother. Dr. Burt Mangold visited him yesterday, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Noah Mangold are with him today. He was improving and was expected to come home soon, but suffered a relap.-.e last Friday, evidently a stroke of paralysis, as he has lost entire control of his voice. His condition is very serious and grave doubts are felt for his recovery. o Physicians From Wells And Jay Co’s Coming Several members of the Wells and Jay counties medical societies will attend a meeting of the Adams county medical society in tho dining room of the Hotel Murray at 7 o'clock tonight. County Superintendent Notified Os New Duties The county superintendent of schools has additional duties now. He has been notified by the department of naturalization that ho is to aid in the instruction of perons desiring to be naturalized. A similar instruction was sent to the clerk of the circuit 1 court. Tho letters say that Americanization is one of the chief matters that ; applicants for naturalization must known before the papers can be grant- ' cd and that the school officials are to assist the applicants in evsry way
