Foreign Representatives Carpenter & Company, 122 Michigan Avenue, Chicago Fifth Avenue Bldg., New York City N, Y. Life Building, Kansas City, Mo Hon. Walter Myers, one of Indiana's best known attorneys and an orator of ability, will speak at the court room in this city next Tuesday evening. If you are interested in the great issues of the hour you should attend this meeting. The democratic ticket in Adams county this year is composed of high class men who will serve you well and who deserve to win. Each man is well qualified to perform the duties of his office and deserving of the hearty sup port of every voter. Tyndall’s great record in the state senate a few years ago was so spectacular that most of the voters of Adams county had forgotten that he had ever been there. —Berne Witness. Most of the voters know that Tyndall has performed his tasks well and that dot a tinge of graft has ever been attached to his public service. Keep it up boys. Every knock for Johr Tyndall in this county is a boost. Election is but a little over two weeks away and the workers will set that interest is continued. Democratic headquarters are open each evening and reports being received there indicate a rousing, old-time victory. Come up and help the good cause along this year when there ia every reason to restore the party to power Farmers, laborers and business men should help to correct the ills of government and these are many just now. Lloyd George of England has resigned as premier, forced out by those who have long opposed him. Bonar Law, a conservative has been asked to organize the government. George lias had a brilliant record and the wonder is that he has continue 1 this long. It is more than possible that he will again be called to organize the administration for he is really a wonderful statesman, honest, fearless and always for the people. In New York the betting on the results of the race for governor is even. That’s queer for only two years ago Harding carried the state by more than a million. If a change has occurred there which makes the betting odds even two weeks before election there must be a cause and this too. in face of the fact that the republican candidate has given generally good satisfaction during his two years in the office. If you can guess politics these days you are the son of a seventh son or some other kind of a
prophet. ; - The Adams’County Witness says that Vestal had two clerks last year j and that he cannot draw more than | $3,600 per year. Now which two was it? Mrs. Vestal, Mary Nuliy, Katherine Miller and Margaret Metzell were all on the payroll and drew their | money from, the government and not I from Mr. Vestal. Mr. Vestal's denial will probably not be substantiated under oath. The charges were made by the New York World and cannot be I brushed aside by a simple denial. A congressman who resorts to such work may be expected to deny the charges. I The Witness is crying “ring” again. I When they have no other campaign! argument they always resort to that old “gag” and deciare the democratic nominations were made behind closed' doors. In this instance they are certainly wrong. The democratic candidates had opposition and fought it out among the voters and without any es-
forts from any other source to control same. How about the republican ticket? It was really the one hand-picked and it will be remembered that Mrs. Jessie Burdg refused to stand for the slab' and became a candidate in opposition to the wishes of the bosses, but, failed to break down the plans. Can | you beat it, really, for old-fashioned i campaign “bunk?” Mr. Beveridge is not discussing the' tariff, but refers it to James Ell, whom ; he says knows more about it than any J man in the United States. Well that's probably correct, for he is the boy! who fought for the big interests who secured protection and Jim ought to j know how and why. Some argument of a bill which increases the costs of products for every citizen, a total of billions in this country. When you go to buy a rug or some other article | you will find that about thirty per I cent has been added, because of the tariff. That will make it easy to understand. In the meantime freight rates remain high and Beveridge tells the railroad men they ought to be ashamed of themselves for expecting wages which will permit them to own a home and have a few meals ahead. o ATTENTION FARMERS Buy Pure Bred Males and Gilts at farm prices. We have the easy feeding kind that develop early. The Duroc is holding the lead over all other breeds. Recent statistics show that 55% of the hogs on farms in the U. S. are Durocs. No wonder.; They raise big litters that feed out quicker than any breed of hogs on earth. See some choice gilts at our, farm. Buy a couple for brood sows. I You will not regret it. J. D.
