Those present were; Misses, Gladys Butler, Marcella Kern, Katli erine Kocher, Margaret Zwiek, laeomi Hunslckor and David Hensley, George Seining, Thetus Hooker, Linn Korn uiid Donald Hunslckor. Miss Gladys Butler lets tills morning for a few days visit with her sis ter, Mrs. Peterson at Knigbtstown, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. 1. W. Maey of South Bend will arrive this evening for an over Sunday visit with relative* and friends. Elmer \V. Kampe of Fort Wayne will arrive Monday to assume Ills duties at this olllce, having recently become a part of the new corporation. Nearly all the business houses in Decatur will close Tuesday on account of the Fourth. The July issue of the International Auctioneer was of the press today and is being mailed to subscribers. The paper is growing in circulation and the outlook is excellent. The Clover Leaf has issued pamphlets describing thirteen attractive va Cation trips. MARTIN “The Bible as History,” was tile subject of the sermon given last night by the ltev. Martin, evangelist who is conducting tiie revival services at the Christian church, pointed out that the books of the Bible constitute a faithful .record of the real and actual events that happened during the life of Christ, and not fiction drawn from some man’s imagination. Jesus Christ, he said, wab first of all a Savior from sin and not a social reformer. Social reform follows us a result of sin reform, lie said. The business of the church ls # to ■ preach Christ as a Savior from sin and then a social reformer, ilie Ilev. Martin declared last night. To believe in Christ means more than believing in him as a good moral character, it means believing in him us the son of God, the speaker said. Tiie Rev. Martin's sermons are all of 1 a practical nature and of vital interest to everyone. The subject of the sermon for Sunday morning will be, "The What and Where of Forever.” CURT JOHNSON TO MAKE BALLOON ASCENSION IN BLUFFTON JULY FOURTH A balloon ascention in Bluffton on Hie Fourth. This was the announcement made today by the committee in charge of the Fourth of July celebration to take place in Buffton on the Fourth of July. Curt Johnson, of Decatur, well known to Bluffton people far his ascensions many years ago, lias been signed up by the committee and will make a parachute drop. The balloon ascension will be the feature of an all days program of boxing matches, boys and girls racing, a ball game and a water carnival. The balloon will go up right after the ball game in a nearby field to be announced later. —Bluffton News. EXCELLENT HARP SOLOIST COMING TO DECATUR WITH MILLION DOLLAR BAND It is seldom that we find a Harp in a brass baud, however, Bachman’s Million Dollar Band which is coining lo Decatur on July 3rd and 4th is one of the happy exceptions of tiie rule. When Mr. Bachman decided to add harp to his band he engaged a man who had a very rich band experience. Mr. John Lauletts who lias been harp soloist with limes Band for many years was engaged by Mr. Bachman and aside .from playing in all band selections rendered, is heard iu each prograin in solo numbers.
