Chicago, April 15. —(Special to Daily Democrat) — The sporting world mourned today for the death of one of its great est favorites —Adrian C. "Pop” Anson, idol of Chicago baseball fans and manager of the original Chicago White Stockings. Anson died following an operation for glandular trouble. He was 70 years of age. Funeral services will be held Sunday. Yesterday’s hero— Heinie Groh got a double and three singles in five times up, scored two runs and drove in four, accepted four chances without an error, helping the Giants beat the Robins 10 to 2. Bancroft and Snyder hit homers. Rube Marquard was wild but he kept eight hits well scattered and the Braves won their first game of the season beating the Phils, G to 2. Lees hit a homer.
