The plant has ■ been rebuilt and enlarged until it is j now one of the largest concerns of Its kind in Indiana. Mr. Tyndall is recog nized as a good business man, an lion est executive, a splendid campaigner, a leader of men. His friends believe he is deserving and most capable and will assist him in securing the nomination and in making the race next November, His father, the late John C. Tyndall was a native of Ohio but lived in Blue Creek township many years. He was a member of the 47th Indiana regiment during the civil war. enlisting in 1861, being honorably discharged two years later because of disability.. Though he lived until 18.85 he never regained his former health. Regardless of party affiliations the people of Adams county recognize the splendid qualities of Senator Tyndall and it is predicted he will make a splendid showing in the district if nominated at the primary on May 2nd. When Mr. Tyndall does a thing he goes into it with his heart and soul and his decision to enter the congressional race was made after a general summing up of the situation and after being urged by many voters from all over the district. While he does not hunger for further honors he feels duty bound to answer the call ot his party and to serve his people when and where he can. His friends are legion and his hat is in the ring. Tyndall for congress. ASSAULTS CHILI) (Continued from page one) at first very reticent about giving any information, apparently being in I great fear of the results when the mother found out that he had told of the mistreatment. The story was finally secured, however, and an affidavit was sworn out by Mr. Worthman, charging the ’ step mother with assault and battery. She was given a hearing this afternoon before Mayor DeVoss, and acknowledged the charge. Both the father and stepmother were severely arraigned and were released under suspended sentence pending future treatment of the child. Superintendent Worthman states that there are several other cases of simiar nature existing in the schools and that this is the beginning of a program of drastic action to be taken against the parents in the event that the mistreatment and inhuman punishment of v young children is continued.

New York Stock Exchange J New York Mar. 28—The general list was quiet in the first few minutes] of trading on the New Yorks tock exchange today. Opening prices were little changed from Monday’s last. About the only stock o show any early life was Sears. Roebuck which opened at 72% and then ran. up to 73%. Equipments were fractionally lower. While the first sale of allied chemical was at 65. up %, this stock quickly reacted a point. American Ice, which sold down to 103% on Monday as compared with a recent higli of 114% opened at 105. off *• Tractions still showed a tirm tone and all early sales of B. R. T. were above 18. ' Steel common was unchanged at 94% but Bethlehem. B continued to give good account of itself above 70. Rails were slightly lower. 11:30 —The whole market was irregular in the first hour. Traders continued to sell motors and some of the steels, but on the other hand, mail order stocks were strong with a sharp upturn also in Lima Locomotive common, which carried the stock to a new record high above 111. , Preferred got close to 110. Traders are fighting the advancs ] in Sears, Roebuck. This stock made a new high for the year at 74. The real reason for the advance in Sears. Roebuck is probably that better news continues to come from the farming section. New York Produce Flour—Dull and unsettled. Pork —Dull: mess [email protected].
