♦ ABOUT TOWN ♦ Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bright, Mrs. Roll Haugk, Esther and Mildred Beery visited their father and brother, Jesse Beery at the Hope Methodist Hospital. Fort Wayne, yesterday, Mr. Beery was operated upon last Friday. Josepli Ci Laurent returned last evening from Muncie, at which place he attended a jonference of post commanders and adjutants representing th© eighth district of the Indiana department of the American Legion. Mrs. Dora Laurent and family went to F ort Wayne yesterday morning to attend the funeral of F. A. Hugenard of that city, whose death occured Sunday at the St. Joseph’s Hospital. Mr. Hugenard was a half-brother to the late Peiler C. Laurent, of this city, and was well known here where he had visited on various occasions. The local post of the American Legion will meet in regular session on Monday evening, December 11, at post headquarters. Time, 8:00 P. M. All members should attend. W. O. Bigham from east of the city a business trip to thia city this morning. Miss Bertha Heath from east qf the city was shopping here this morning. Pieter Loshe from east of town was a Decatur business visitor today.

Miss Mary Meyers went to Berne on i business this noon. Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Heuer and children of Preble shopped in Decatur today. The pastry sale and Bazaar of the Reformed Ladies which wash given at the Library yesterday was a decided success. It is estimated tha ta little over $70.00 was cleared. The Ladies are well pleased and wish to thank everyone for their patronage and kindness. Joe Lorent went to Fort Wayne yesterday, where he attended the funeral of his uncle, Mr. Heugengard. From Fort Wayne he went to Muncie where he attended a meetting of the Legion Commanders of the Sth district. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Walters returned from a visit in Fort Wayne last evening. Oscar Lankanau spent last evening in Fort Wayne. Frank McConnell was in Fort Wayne yesterday on business. Remember, the meeting at the Decatur Industrial rooms' this evening. The Hon. Albert Stump of Indianapolis will be the speaker. Don’t forget the time and place of the Ben Hur Box Social, Friday evening of this week. C. W. Hocker of Elkhart is spending several days in Decatur and vicinity looking after business interests.
