My first I husband was of that name and I sup posed lie was killed in tho war but the name of the man the bare et being Hie same 1 thought it might be him after all and 1 thought to know If he wasn't kiled either in the war or by tile bare for 1 have been married twice since and their ought to he divorce papers got out by him or me if tho bare did not eat him all up. If it's him you will know it by him having six toes on Uie left foot. He also sings base and has a spread eagle tattooed on his front chest and a anker on ids right arm which you will know him if the bare did not eat up these parts of him. If alive don't tell him I am married to J W—- for he never liked J— —. Mebbe you had better let on as if i am ded but find out all you can about him without him knowing what it is for. NOTION LOST TILLER OF SOIL WHEN RUDOLPH VALENTINO FORSOOK PLOWSHARE FOR DANCING SLIPPERS. When Rudolph Valentino decided to try professional dancing as a means of earning a temporary livelihood, one perfectly good agricultural student, witli ambitions to own a ranch and home somewhere In the middle-west, passed out of existence. For the would-be farmer today is playing the leading male role in Metro's colossal all-star production j of “The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypes," by Vincente Blasco Ibanez, which is to be the attraction at the Crystal, Wednesday and Thursday. December 14 and 15 and hasn't the slightest intention of giving up the glories of the screen for the obscurity of the farm. Born at Taranto, Italy, Rudolph Valentino had attended the public "schools and then, later, graduated with his degree from the Royal Military College of Agriculture at Genoa. At the age of eighteen, he came to the United States intending to settle | on a ranch, make his fortune, and then | return to Sunny Italy. This youth had never taken a dancing lesson. But a natural grace and ease had won for him a reputation as a dancer in Italy. Upon arriving in New York, Mr. Valentino became associated with members of the threatrical profession | and before long his ability as a dancer j ! attracted them. Bonnie Glass was! one of the first to realize his ability | and as a result signed him up as her 1 dancing partner. They first appeared at Rector's. Later the pair danced at the Winter Garden and for the first time in I twenty years the cake-walk was re-1 I vived with such success that the two . dancers were in demand by all then-1 trical managers and finally contracted I for a long term in vaudeville, j Mr. Valenino made his debut in motion pictures with Mae Murray in .“The Big Little Princess.” Also, he appeared with the same star in "The | i Delicious Little Devil.” His other i notable picture appearances in their I order were with Clara Kimball Young in “The Eyes of Phillips, “The Cheat- | I er” with May Allison, and in many I ! other successful productions. When June Mathis started work on I the scenario of “The Four Horsemen I of the Apocalypse” and conferred with I Rex Ingram, who is directing VinI cents Blasco Ibanez's famous story, | Mr. Valentino was their immediate <:hoice for the part of Julio, the young hero. In appearance he fits the type as described by the Spanish author I land with his remarkable skill as a l I dancer, is the perfect embodiment of|| the tango-dancing Julio of the story. Steele bankruptcy petition, has Issued an order that the sale of all the personal property excepting ac counts and bills receivable be held on Wednesday, December 28, at the store room on Second street, at HI o'clock a. m. Said property will be sold free of Hens, the liens, if any, to follow and attach to the fund derived from the sale thereof. The receiver shall accept sealed bids for said property until the close of day, December 26, which sealed blds will be delivered to the trustee immediately after his election and will lie opened by the trustee at the Hine of 1 sale; and any bidder can increase his' bid at the time of the public sale on December 28, if he so desires. - ■ —• CROWD SAW SHOW. Large crowds saw “Humoresque" at the Mecca and Crystal theatres Wednesday evening, proving that Decatur people enjoy the best in tho photoplay line. The special music was thoroughly enjoyed. Next week "The Four Horsemen" is billed, and Messrs. Spray and McCormick have arranged with Meredith Stewart and Miss Edna Snyder to furnish the music at the evening shows, Wednesday and Thursday.
