1 J / X W?' W Pilgrims Knew the Bible 1 hree hundred years ago a little band of men and women lived on faith and hard work in the forests of Massachusetts. They are known now as Pilgrims because they sailed from England to find a place to worship God without restraint. They brought their pastor with them —few modern immigrants do. Bible Develops Character The Pilgrims were poor and unlearned, but they knew the Bible. 1 hat knowledge developed a type of character we all admire. These first settlers would not be known to posterity had they not been so well acquainted with their Bible. Is your Bible a parlor ornament, or a study book ? Read it today around the family lamp. Read it every day. The Thanksgiving time should find Decatur people in close touch with their Bibles. Attend the Union Thanksgiving Service, and get ready to assist in the simultaneous revival meetings, starting Sunday.

panion, a kind father, a consistent Christian, a loyal member of the church. ■ What a loss to the world and to us all and what a gain to Heaven with a companion and daughter. There remains the parents, two brothers, Otto on Ninth street, Decatur, Ind., and Henry of Fort Wayne to feel the heavy hand of death in their loved one. May the God whom he served continue to direct and bless the above mentioned dear ones with many other unmentioned friends and neighbors. Let us be patient, these severe afflictions, Not from the ground arise; But oftentimes celestial benedictions, assume this dark disguise. We see but dimly through these mists and vapers, Amid these earthly damps; | What seems to us but funeral tapers, May be Heaven's distant lamps. Card of Thanks. We desire in this way to thank the neighbors, friends and members of the Sunday school class, the choir, Bev. Miner, those who sent flowers, or in any way assisted us during the sickness and death of our husband and son. Every act was appreciated to the fullest extent, and no word of tongue can' express our gratitude.—Mrs. Albert Schlickman, Father, Mother and Brothers. — • The Porter and Edwards studios will be closed all day Thanksgiving.
