July 15.—(Special tfi Daily Democrat). —Motocycles equip ad with side cars to carry police may >e used to run down bandits who 'lave terrorized Gary and the vicinity is a result of the murder yesterday if Meyer Ruskin, Indiana Harbor, iruggist by negro bandits. Ruskin tilled one of the bandits and the oth■r escaped after a firing of bullets nto Ruskin's body. Miss Rose Raffling, whose home is aid to be iff Kenosha, Wis., was mooring with Ruskin when he was held ip. The bandit shot Ruskin when he latter resisted. KABER MOANS, ”1 DIDN'T DO IT”—CASE TO JURY TONIGHT Cleveland, 0., July 15—(Special to Daily Democrat).—Weeping hysterically, Mrs. Catherine Eva Kaber, on trial for the murder of her husband, the wealthy Daniel Kaber, moaned: “I didn't do it, they know I didn't do it. I want to tell.” The accused widow was carried into ourt this morning when her trial was vesumed. Many women spectators who jammed the court room leaned forward when Mrs. Kaber started moaning, in >n effort to hear the words that left ter lips. Meantime it was expected that Mrs. Kaber's fate would be in the hands of the jury before night.
A BIG LIQUOR HAUL. Richmond, Ind., July 15. —(Special Daily Democrat). —One of the largest liquor hauls in eastern Indima since Mr. Volstead arrived, was siade here last night. Twenty-five gallons of corn whisky, 100 gallons of rye and corn mesh and a still complete in every detail was confiscated at the home of Walter Pleasant, negro. The miniature distillery was found n a tin shop at the rear of Pleasant's ’tome. The raid was made in the. lead of night and Pleasant was arous’d to accompany the liquor to police teadquarters. Pleasant was the driver of an autonobile which turned over last Tueslay, killing William Neibuhr. He arried SSOO when he was searched.
