The measure provides that anyone operating a jitney bus line must have their contract approved by the city board of public works in which the line in operated and then by the public service commission. It applies to cities of the first, second, third and fourth class, and provides also that no contract for the operation of jitneys shall be for longer than twentyfive years.

There are 421 horses under 1 year of age. 722 between one year und two years and 7,677 over two years of age; 248 of these are breeding horses; 85 horses died of disease during the past year. There ure 33 mules under one year of age, 47 between one and two years and 231 over two years. The county has 1,129 beef cattle under 1 year of age, 1,492 between one and two years and 2,046 over two years. 27 died of disease in the past year. There are 25 sires and 98 female beef cattle for breeding. Dairy cattle number 1,327 under one year of age, 1,057 between one and two years, and 8,770 over two years. 50 died of disease. Pure-breds number 23 sires and 112 females, and grades, 101 sires and 2,799 females. Sheep number 348 under one year. 767 between cne and two years and 5,111 over two years. 348 died of disease. There are 5 pure-bred fnmales and 21 sires and 3.412 grade trma>l's and 77 grade sires. There are eighteen goats in the county two years old and over. GERMANY'S COAL OUTPUT. Berlin.—The German Minister of Trades estimates the total output of coal in Germany during 1920 at 133,000,000 tons, as against 190,000,000 tons in 1913. FAMILY CHAIN OF RECTORS. Walsall, Eng.—The Rev. Frederick Douglass, appointed rector of Salwarpe, by his father, will be the fifth of his family to hold the benefice, the first having been his great-great-grand father. BIG AUSTRALIAN HARVEST. Melbourne. —Australia's total wheat harvest for this season i§ put at 140,000,000 bushels, 10,000,000 more than the original forecast. FUNERAL OF MR. WHITE Funeral services for Mr. Alexander White, father of Mrs. J. C. Sutton of this city, will be held from the Presbyterian church at Ossian, Friday afternoon at 2:30. Interment will be made at the Qssian cemetery one-half mile south oX.that town. Mr. White died Wednesday morning at ten o'clock from heart trouble.
