ON THE’ DECLINE — Heavy Receipts Swamp the Hog Market and Prices Continue to Drop AROUND TEN DOLLARS Indianapolis Market Hits Low Mark — Chicago and Pittsburg Fall Chicago, Hl., Nov. 23—(Special to Daily Democrat —The hog markets of the country were practically demoralized today by the continued sharp decline in quotations. The market in Chicago was off $1 ami similar drops * were reported in other leading centers. Prices ranged around $lO. Indianapolis, Nov. 23 —(Special to Daily Democrat) —Hog prices continued to drop on the Indianapolis livestock market today. The lowest ' price was $9.25 for roughs, with the I highest price and hulk of sales at $lO. This is the lowest level that] hogs has reached on the local mar- j ket‘ since 1912. CASE WAS POSTPONED The case against Mr. G. T. Burk I at Portland, for violating the state peed laws has been postponed, upon ; motion of the prosecutor who now says | he will file another affidavit. For the' benefit of the Portland people who seem inclined to persecute Mr. Burk, it is only fair to state that Mr. Burk , is one of the best citizens of Decat ui. a law-abiding, careful gentleman and the attacks made upon him are, his many friends here believe, entirely unwarranted. Just how Portland can afford to mistreat visitors to that city, and this is by ’no means the first instance, is more than the average person can figure out.
