The sugar factory has made several improvements, the foundry and G. E. are going big and expect to grow during the year. There is much to do if the town keeps up with her factories. Get in the game and build a house. Governor Cox will offer evidence to show that the republicans have a fifteen million dollar campaign fund and from past records of Jimmie, he has something up his sleeve. That an effort is being made to win the election by elaborate advertising and by the lavish expenditure of money is generally believed and of course this counts at the vote getting game for it permits greater publicity. The people should remember however that principles count for something and that a good many voters are pretty well satisfied with general financial and working conditions. The coal situation is serious and the people of the community should pull together in making the best of conditions as they are. The industrial association will if there is any thing they can do, assist the dealers in taking care of the people of this community and the entire population should support them. Co-operation counts and the people of this city are working together to make this the best spot on earth. We have faith in the future and believe the problems will all be properly solved and Decatur and Adams county continue to move forward. If Decatur had a hundred houses ready for rent, we would increase just that many families. The demand for houses is greater now than it has ever been according to the real estate men who report that each day Inquiries come for homes. Many new families want to come here to live, many who formerly lived here want to return, realizing that the city is going good and that opportunities here are excellent. We can’t grow much unless we build more homes. During this year and under rather adverse circumstances, many new dwellings have been erected but we must go faster if we keep up. Every one who can finance a new house is urged to do so and to start building at once. Let’s grab the opportunity while it is here. It would not take many hours to break the monopoly in the coal b siness if the interstate commerce c inmission and the public service c nmission of Indiana would join tog Iler to make effective the plan of . ving advantage in the car supply to those coal mines which fill their ontracts honestly and will place be cars at the mines which will fun ah ooal at the lowest prices to the < nsumers. Under conditions by wh :h the consumers can be enabled to place cars at the mines which vill serve them most advantageously Indiana coal can be bought at this t ne pretty close to the $2 mark, wh ;h, with the freight added, would m ke Indiana mine run coal cost wh mt $3.35 a ton in Kokomo. It Is ti ne that public officials should do what they can for the general public and quit passing the buck, to some one else.
