Five hundred of the "strikebreakers" are already at work and it is planned to have several thousand at work bv ' Saturday. r The strike is by switchmen of the ■ Chicago yardmen's association. They 1 are asking wage increases. Officials ' of the Brotherhood of Railroad Train- > men and the Switchmen's union of • North Amreica say the now union is composed of rebels and that the strike is illegal. The demands the strikers seek, regular union officials say, are now being considered. DELT PARTY TONIGHT The Delta Theta Tau sorority will conduct a card party this evening ?.t the K. of C. hall at 8 o’clock. A number of games will be played including "500", rhum and progressive peanuts, and a good time is assured all who attend. Friday Ladies' Aid of Christian Church— ' Mrs. Alva Baker. The meeting of the United Brethren Ladies’ Aid society which was to be held tomorrow, has been postponed until a week from Thursday. All members are urged to take notice. ♦ A splendid attendance was recorded in the meeting of the Womans Missionary society of the Reformed < htirch which was held at the home of Mrs. M. F. Worthman yesterday afternoon. This meeting marked the first meeting of the new year for the society. They took up the first two chapters of the lesson study and the report of the treasurer was read. They voted to extend an invitation to the Classical Missionary society to bold their meeting here in 1921. The Classical organization of this church has Mrs. Stolte as their president. Today eight or ten of the local ( members are attending the meeting' which is being held at Fort Wayne, i Mrs. M. F. Worthman was assisted I in entertaining by Mesdames John Beel, Curt Fritzinger and John Deineke. ♦ The Phi Delta Easter dance was a siu itss in every way last f evening at the Masonic hall and was attended by a large number of guests from Ft. Wayne. Fluffton and two Phi Delta from South Bend. Beside a large number c-f local people. "Farling's Feature Four" orchestra furnished the music which was enjoyed very much by rhe dancers. ♦ The Masonic Home was the scene •* -‘f
of a merry party of children Monday evening when about eighty chll dren responded to the Invitations sent, by tho Masonic lodge. The decorations of the hall were carried out in the Luster suggestions as was the table ir the dining room with its baskets of Enster eggs, little chick ens and bunnies. The children lined up for the grand march and were given fancy caps to be worn during the march which contained verses. From hert they went to the dining room where they were served with ice cream and Easter cakes. A chocolate bunny marked each place as favors. Baskets containing egg< were passed to the children. They spent the evening in playing games and all thoroughly enjoyed the evening Mrs. Wesley Hoffman, chairman of the committee consisting of Mesdames Charles Kocher. Curl Pumphrey and C. It Weaver, spared no es forts in helping the children enjoy themselves. Mrs. Carrie Haubold, Misses Ruby Miller and Electa Glancy gave a delightful program during the evening and Misses Gladys Flanders and Florence Haney assisted the children in the games. The ladies in charge wish to thank these girls for their valuable assistance in the evening's entertainment. The Ben Hur Tirzah Aid will be entertained by Mrs. John Burk and Maud Springer immediately after th-? meeting of the Ben Hur lodge.
