Here ’hey were given an hospitable home until the father, Samuel Flagg, erected a log cabin on the bank of Yellow Creek about a mile west of Pleasant Mills. Her father had taken up a large tract of laud here and they were among the earliest pioneers in all that country. Indians were then numerous in that territory and frequent visitors at the Flagg home. Samuel Flagg was an industrious, energetic, exemplary citizen, became one of the prosperous and influential citizens of Adams county. | The Flagg family consisted of four sisters and two brothers including our departed sister. Isabell Neptune, who lived with her parents until beginning of her young womanhood when she was married to David Barn-
hart of Adams Comity. Mr. Barnhart died about 2’/ 4 yea-s thereafter. Os this marriage one child, now Mary C. Brodbeek. was oom. and who now lives in Nebraska. She was married a. second time in the year 1855 to James Ira Neptune, whom everybody in this community holds in loving remembrance. Mr. Neptune preceded her in death about fifteen years ago. Os this marriage nine children were born: Rebecca L„ J. It., Ira Curtis, C. E. Frances M., Wm. L„ Samuel 0., Elfzabeth A and Bessie. Three of these children, Dr. J. Q. Neptune, of Decatur, Ind.; Mrs. F. O. Dennon, of Toledo, O. and Dr. C. E. Neptune, now in the west, still survive. Mrs. Neptune lived a consistent Christian life from ner early girlhood until her death. She first united with the church when just a child at the told ‘‘Hopewell Church” near Fleas ant Mills, and worshipped there un til she removed with her husband I'he late Ira Neptune, to their farm ! home west of Willshire, when she be came a member of the Methodist church. Hero at this farm home she reared her family and guided them by her own Christian influence and under the influence of this church. She had been in failing health £Ol the last five years and often express ed her desire to go home to be witl her loved ones and to see Jesus, and her last words were pleading for tin Lord to take her home.
