"I provided they can secure labor and ‘ th* Lousing question is properly »olved. No city can grow unless it provides homes for the people who i, come bud the only thing to do is to get them, one way or another. 1 It’s a whale of a question and one C that every business man and women lln Decatur ought to be thinking about 1 Every good city is well lighted. If 1 you arrive in any city at night you ’ get a good impression if it is well ■ lighted. Decatur needs improvement i along this line and right now is the 1 time to get it. Under a law enacted 1 in 1915 it is possible to install ornamental posts and charge same up the same as a street or sewer or sidewalk improvement, each owner paying an equal amount per lineal foot abutting on the street. Nothing we can do at so small a cost will so add to the attractiveness of the city and by all means the petitions should be started at once. The law is clear and easily followed and any person interested may ascertain all j the facts by referring to the acts of 1915. Let’s light 'er up! I The Berne Business Men’s associaI tion has decided that it is not advisable to provide a gymnasium for the boys and girls of that community. We have no details as to the facts which have brought abwut the discussion or the reasoning of the i ( men to whom it was referred but we J do know that there is no more important proposition for any city than ’ to take care of the boys and girls by providing a place in which they Don’t Worry — You Can Stop the Flu! I may enjoy clean sports in a clean ■ way. It may be that at this time it is not advisable, for we know from 1 our own experience in Decatur that 1 it was Impossible for many years and that even now wo haven't as 1 complete and modern a gym as we would like, but we hope to improve ■in a short time and we feel sure that so enterprising and up-to-date little city us Berne will want to provide an athletic hall for their people, just as soon as they can. Don’t pass it up a day longer than you have to. A visit to the Decatur gym any afternoon or evening will convince you that the investment is worth making. THEY LIKE BERNE Also Products Company Often to Move Plant From Decatur There I WANT STOCK TAKEN Berne Business Men Held Meeting, Elect Officers, Turn Down Gym. At the regular meeting of the Berne Business Men's association, Monday evening, three representatives of the Also Products company of this city, presented a proposition to move their plant to that place, their reason being that the building occupied here is not adapted to their business. They offered to move' to Berne provided the commercial club would guarantee them the sale .of $25,000 in stock and give them a two ' acre site. The offer was referred to a special committee for investiga-, tion. • | At the same meeting the Berne association decided it is not advisable to build a gymnasium and dropped the project for the present. Officers for the Berne chamber of, commerce were chosen as follows: President. E. A. Luginbill; vicepresident, Menno Burkhalter; secre-ta-y, J. D. Winteregg; treasurer, E. M. Ray; directors, J. F. Lehman, A.; C. Neuensehwander, Fred Rohrer. The Also Products company located here about three years ago and are occupying the old Ward Fence property. Several efforts to lease a part of the building or -purchase same have been made recently but without results. The Berne report indicates they are seeking another location. The company manufactures Lucerno, a popular drink, table syrup, a tea substitute and other articles from alfalfa hay. Those who have devoted much time to getting the business started have faith in the possibilities of the future and we hope they continue to do business in Decatur. It appears that most of New York’s welcome to recent visiting royalties was privately paid for by Rodman Wanamaker. WINTER WEATHER AND HEAVY FOODS Comparatively few persons exercise as much outdoors in winter as in summer, and at the same time almost everybody eats more heartily in cold weather. The extra work put upon digestive organs leads to Indi1 gestion, biliousness, headache, bad breath, coated tongue, bloating, gas, constipation. Foley Cathartic Tablets thoroughly cleanse the bowels, sweeten the stomach and benefit the liver. They cause no griping or nausea and are liked by over-stout persons who welcome the light, free feeling they bring. ' 1 -'"' — VULCAN IZI NO Have your tires cared for by A W. Tanvae.
