Chamberlain, United 1 Press staff correspondent) 1 New York, Oct. 15.—There Is no 1 flourish of extravagent luxury in Bob 1 gian ropalty's tour of America. 1 "Economy" will be the watchword. 1 Two maids are all Queen Elizabeth has with her. The lesson of thrift 1 preached to American housewives by 1 Herbert Hoover is being strictly followed by the queen. Both maids are Belgian girls and came across the ocean with the royal party. One lady-in-waiting, the Countess C. de Caraman-Chimay, will be in attendance on the queen. Simple white and gray dresses will feature Queen Elizabeth’s attire throughout her journey over "The Wonderland.” | The king has one personal servant his valet. Prince I>eomld also car- ' ries a valet. Add to this a maid for the Countess de Caraman-Chimay, and the servant equipage of the royal party -will amount to five people. Six men, in the capacity of footmen, will accompany the monarch's on their tour. They are strong able-bod-ied Belgians, and in addition to being in close attendance on the Belgian rulers, they will also keep an eye on the look-out for any loose Belgian anarchists. The king will wear the uniform of a Belgian or a lieutenant-general throughout the tour. On occasions he expects to don evening dress. Prince Leopold has worn the uniform of a Belgian private since leaving Brussels, and unless King Albert decides otherwise, he will wear it

WHEN BULL MEETS FORD After Encounter Ford Rolls Over and Keeps Right on Going. Juet why a particular bull grazing on a side hill in Santa Ana Canyon , one day recently should entertain so 1 sincere a dislike for a black Ford touring car is a mystery. He may 1 have had gastritis or a bad liver, or he may have disliked all automobiles or' all Forde. Anway, when the Harris family of San Pedro drove their Ford around , the base of that sidehill, Friend Bull ' snorted, slapped his tail at a fly, missed it, saw red, and for want of something better to do. decided to engage the Ford in combat. There wasn’t much of a fight. After the bull had turned the Ford upside down in the ro«d, he was much better satisfied with himself and strolled into the shade of a nearby tree to view his handiwork. ww The members of the Harris family had not been hurt seriously, so they mobilized forces, rolled the Ford over onto its wheels, cranked it —and continued their journey.

Writes Interesting Letter to Former Employer About the West—Left Fann Smith & Bell have received the following letter from John Kiracofe. formerly a bookkeeper in that office and well known in this city: October 5, 1919. Gentlemen: — It is now more than a year since , my pleasant visit to Decatur, in which time 1 have not heard from you. hence I will write you a few lines, hoping ych will take time to reply. I attended the state university at ' Missoula this summer and am located at Martinsdale as principal of the school. This is a small town in the heart of the mountains along the beautiful Musselshell valley, on the mainline of the Milwaukee which runs all i trains by electricity. I learned last year that the pleasant j climate here made H possibe for me j to stay tn the school room which is the (work I awaj 8 desired during boyhood :and for which lam best fitted. I will secure a first grade certificate in De Icember which is good anywhere in th' state for three years and renewable I at the end of that time. I received a letter the day 1 earn-: " here offering me a permanent piact on the faculty of the Missoula Bus iness ond Normal college, hut this school is one of the eight Superioi schools in the state and pays the best salary of any school in the state, with no work above the grades. Last year the teacher received 1150 per month, but she had been here for six years I get $135 per month for this year. A’ou will see Montana is well in the lead in teachers’ salaries as well as a pension fund which would permit me to retire at the end of twenty-two years with a life salary of $50.00 per month. In addition to free text books we have a certain per cant, of ail school funds for library books as well as everything one could desire in ths way of equipment. However, this is one of tlie wealthiest sections of Montana. We have a modem two room school with no indebtedness and nearly $5,000 on hand without any of i tills year’s taxes. I hope the next time Mr. Smith makes a trip west he will not fail ,tc stop and pay us a visit. I might ( add that trout fishing is very good and the past two days 1 have been I feasting on vension. Bear are also plentiful in this section. I will return to tlie northern part , of the state next weak to make final proof of my half section of land and WHAT TO USE TO PREVENT APPENDICITIS ! will return with Mrs. Kiracofe and Juanita who are still living on the homestead. I have made application to the government to isolate 160 acres that joins my farm which I hope to buy within the next year. I had a very good potato crop which 1 I sold for a good price but the last letter 1 had from home liefore the| wheat had not been threshed. I sold my cattle before coming here for a ’ good price. We became dissatisfied living thirtyfive miles from the railroad away from everything so gave up the idea of remaining of the farm. , Mrs. Kiracofe. Juanita and I had the pleasure of an auto trip through , Yellowstone park the first part of August where we saw some of the ; wonders of tho world. We had a ! twelve hundred mile trip over half of , which was in the heart of the Rocky mountains. I think Montana is won-i , derfiil in the way of scenery. , This section of the state is devoted . -. largely to the sheen industry.
