The president, he said "was a very sick man.” and it was said further that his condition had become less favorable. While it is insisted that there is nothing alarming in the situation, the news, nevertheless, is somewhat disquieting. Mr. Wil- i son. as every one knows, has for a long time'been under a very great strain. Also, he has been for years working hard, with very little rest. Now he is apparently paying the i price. One can imagine that it is difficult to relieve a nervous condition i in the president largely due to his ) interest in his work and anxiety as to its outcome. It is very easy to tell him that he must not think about i the peace treaty. But as he has been thinking of little else for almost a year, he can hardly break himself of the habit. There are few- men who are able to follow the well-known prescription. "Don’t worry.” There is no reason for surprise that there should have been a breakdown; rather it would have been strange had there not been. The people will hope that the president may soon recover his health and strength, and will try to believe that his condition is not so unfavorable as it seems to be. We shall all draw encouragement from the assurance that there is nothing alarming in the situation. The president is in good hands, and everything

will be done that can be done to hasten a recovery. Dr. Grayson evidently believes in being frank with the people, and he is right. For ' otherwise the most alarming rumors might easily gain credence, and the worst interpretation be placed on the | bulletins. But. after making every I allowance, it is natural that the people should be somewhat disturbed over the news that “the president is a very sick man.” —Indianapolis i News. The battle for baseball supremacy continues to interest millions of fans over this country. We like to play i and we have noticed that the fellow j who gets away from the worries of business and forgets his troubles occasionally. Is better for doing so. He can work harder who plays when his work is over and who tackles his job with the smile of youth upon his face. So far we have not heard of any j change in the road map that will include Adams county and give us a ; fair apportionment. That we have been slapped in the face and kicked in the ribs for some cause or other is apparent and we fear very much ; that those who have the pow’er propose to just let us cripple along without any aid from them.
