William Allen White recalls that all nations connected with the war were losers, thus reminding the world of the need of a league of nations to end wars. In denial of published statements that it has given an “official O. K.” to “Zython”, said to be a new kind of beer, the United States Department of Agriculture states that none of its bureaus or divisions which should properly consider a matter of this kind has any knowledge of “zython.” Hence the Department of Agriculture has not given any kind of sanction or approval or “O. K.” to this beverage. Mrs. D. S. Gates, of near Willshire, O. went to Fort Wayne this morning Mrs. Malinda Fronfield, of Fort Wayne, was here today on business. Mrs. Godfrey Kurt spent the day in Monmouth. Her mother, Mrs. Martin Lord, who has been ill is recovering nicely. Mr. Lord is also slightly ill. The Rev. G. H. Bosse has orders to instruct the employees not to accept any packages for mailing unless they are tied securely and well wrapped. Practically all parcels well done up have reached their destination in good condition. Complaints of damage have been traced almost entirely to faulty wrapping. • A large hive of bees “swarmed” yesterday for John Everett, which lends encouragement to the belief that summer may not be far distant.

BUYS BLACKSMITH SHOP Ed Green, former sheriff, now engaged In the auto livery business, has purchased the blacksmith shop on [first street formerly owned by Ollie ' Heller. The latter recently sold it to [ Tony Everhart who made the sale to Mr. Green. Ed has employed Dick Earhart to operate the plant and he • began duty today. He is a first class 1 repair man as well as an expert horse sheer and patrons of the shop are guaranteed satisfaction. They will do all kinds of repair work and ask your patronage.
