In 1875 he en- , gaged in the butcher business with i Levi Barkley in a shop on Second : street, Decatur, Ind. After two years ' he sold his interest in the butcher

I In 1872 he was converted and join ed the Church of Gcd in a littl ■ church that stood on the corner o' tho Steele homestead in Union town ship and before his death he said ho was still proud and happy to know he was now and always had been of th“ faith of the Chrch of God. | In 1865 in early manhood he was married to Julia Stevens, a member of the Church of God. She died leaving no children, in early wo,manhood. Later at Decatur. Ind., he was married to Mrs. Elizabeth Marquart. . widow of Jacob Marquart. she having 'one daughter, Anna Marquart Liman, who with her daughters, Naomi and Neva still survive and live at Battle s Creek, Mich. She also had a foster son. George Marquart, of Linton. Ind., who also survives. Mrs. Mfirquart Steele died in 1914, and up until the present year he< walked the path of; life alone. On January 19, 1919, he was again married to Mrs. Martha Steele, widow of his brother. John ] Steele, who with her two daughter’. Florence Keller and Evelyn Steele 1 survive to mourn the loss of one wh would have proved himself a kind am’ * loving husband and father. He also ’ leaves one brother, Dayton Steeb? tho last of tho parental family who will feel his less keenly.
