FARMERS MEET Assembly ( ailed lor Saturday Morning at Ten 0 clock at Office OF COUNTY AGENT Coming Institute Work and State Legislation Benefits to be Discussed. A meeting of formers of the county who are interested in the work is called for tomorrow morning at ten o clock at the office of County Agricultural Agent J. R. Meeks, in tho court house. Present at this meeting will boa worker from Purdue University and the matter of business relating to county institute work and legislation of lteneflt to the farmer will bo taken up. The worker will gain information relative to the things that the tamers would like to have discussed at the coming institute sessions, of which there will be six during January and February by various community organizations. At this meeting also the matter of resolutions to be presented to the coming session of the state legislature, whereby the farmer will be • benefited, will come before the meeting also. A cordial and urgent invitation is extended to all those Interested to I come to this gathering. BULLETIN gWeS HINTS Lafayette, Ind., l»ec. 20—“ In many I oases where calls were made in cities and towns during the past year for farm labor, they were answered by married men. Their services were often rejected because the farmer was not prepared to care for a family,” says a bulletin on "Tenant Houses for Farm Labor,” just off the press of the Purdue L T niversity extension department. “A large percent of these men were born and reared on a farm and would make first clqps tenants. They succumbed to the lure of the city and seemingly large salaries, but found that life there, is not always sunshine and roses. The lack of tenant houses forms a stumbling block i» returning thesp men to where they may better serve themselves, their employers and all mankind. “The records also show that many of the farmer boy soldiers have married just before enlisting or sailing for Europe. The farmers of this conn try will be called upon to provide employment for a large percent of these men in uniform upon their ■■eturn, since they will not be in a position to start farming for themselves.” These statements “how the need for tenant houses on Indiana farms, if farmers are to effectively solve the labor problem, which they face in peace time as well as during the war. Many are seeking to meet the help problem by employing married men and to get good help and keep it the farmers throughout the state are erecting better houses for them. The bulletin on tenant houses contains several plans which may be used for almost any condition besides pictures which offer many valuable suggestions to the prospective builder. Copies of the pamphlet may be obtained through the county agent or by writing to Purdue University for extension bulletin No. 73. REVIVAL MEETING Revival meeting at Pleasant Grove XT B. church.
