UNIFORM RULESj Os Interstate Shipment of Food Products Now Being Formulated. late nominations Cause Delay in Getting Food Laws Applied in All Parts of the State. Indianapolis, Nov. 15 —For the purpose of making uniform rules thut will serve to permit of regulation of all retailers through wholesale houses unking interstate shipments, and for a general exchange of ideas, I)r. Harry E. Barnard, Indiana food administrator is in Washington conferring wi’h Herbert Hoover, federal food administrator and state administrators from thirty states. It is expected that details of the enforcement of the Lever food control bill will he clarified an] that the state administrators will bene fit by the further interpretation of the law by those chiefly responsible for its execution. - . • I T...11.,nn anil tl 4 V»
In the meantime Indiana county food administrators will receive their official confirmation and be clothed with the legal powers necessary for the performance of tiieir duties. Ipun the return of Dr. Barnard they will receive their specific instructions for the administration of the law. The Indiana State Council of Defense has received nominations from practically every county in the state. In most of the cases an investigation of the fitness of the nominee has been made and resulted satisfactorily. Delay may be experienced in some quarters due to late, nominations, but it is believed within a few days the law will be effectively applied all over he state. —■■ ■ ■ SAMMIES ANXIOUS FOR BACON tlTnlfem Hrw* Service! (Bv J. W. Pegler. United Press staff correspondent.) The American Field Headquarters France. Nov. 15—(Special to Daily Democrat) —Sammy is hungry for a fight with ”Les boches." He's getting contemptuous of whistling things shooting over his head; he is getting inured to wearing a gas mask, when the boche drops some smelly gas shells over, he doesn’t .mind the tattoo of machine gun bullets: he’s a pure fatalist when it comes to shells bang ing away close by. Hes just as carefree as an American kid —but back in his head hes aching for a chance at Fritz. That is the impression one gets today after mixing with the latest de tachment of American infrantrymen relieved from their duty in front line trenches and after a survey of 'he new detachment which went into their first job in the front line trenchs It is the third American unit to undergo this experience. While Sammy on the ground is longing for his chance at grips with '.he enemy, aviation officers are getting their chance. American aviators have participated with French flyers in night raids, bombing artillery observation stations behind the German lines. This is the final stage in their battle training—comparable to the sort of training the infantry is getting in the French trenches. The young American officer who was knocked our from shell shock on the occasion of the German raid which cost the lives of three American soldiers, returned to duty with his regiment today comnletely recovered. He reported the men In his unit ns eager to get back into action. He learned that on the night after the German raid had taken several of their comrades, the remainder begged hard for permission to make a count-er-raid. The whole Aerlcan is Sncreis inelv alert and increasingly fight hungry. Shelling continued about normal with occasional gas bombs. — -o *MVF YOT’ TRTF.D TTTF DFMOriUT’S CLASSIFIED ct’pttov
