The fire escape on the south side of the Studebaker block has received a new coat of paint. Mr. and Mrs. George Flanders and daughter. Gladys, were Fort Wayne visitors yesterday. Miss Mildred Doehrman came yester day from Portland where she visited with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs.. C. M. Hower. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Myers and son, Hermann, and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Beery' left last night for Indianapolis where they will visit with Arthur Beery and other Decatur men at Ft. Benjamin Harrison. Mrs. Lawrence Schlegel and daughter, Helen, went to Fort Wayne this morning for a visit with her mother, Mrs. Mary Baxter. They will be joined Saturday by Mr. Schlegel fur an over Sunday visit. Frank Studabaker arrived home this morning from South Milford, where he was seriously injured in an automobile accident a few days ago. He is recovering rapidly from his injuries and will soon be as well as ever. —Bluffton Banner. Neb., was a guest at the J. M. Frisinger home last evening. He reported yesterday at Alexandria to pass examination for the National army. He passed a per-i : feet examination and is expecting to! be called to the service. He was mar- ■ ried a month ago to Miss Fanny Frisinger.

They came to make a farewell visit with Dick May, member of Company A, before he goes to war. Word received by Alpheus Roop, of this city, from his brother, Miles Roop, that he has enlisted in the U. S. army and is now stationed at Fort Severin, Ga. Miles has enlisted in the hospital ■ corps.
