If the fuss over whether or not C i I one! 11, »■< v< It is to be sent to Euroi e • with a .-at.tloo man battalion is all that I is holding up the important const ri- ■ tion 1 ill. the logger heads ought to gn - nil coiut home. Surely this • matter of'going to war is far too Ln-1, portant to waste time quarreling ov t ! any >n.' man. Either do it or not and the country will b» satisfied, but do ' something. This weather is more like it. even i though there was a heavy scum of I fro: t last night. A few days like this and the gardens will spring up mi a most wonderful fashion. Then j ><t ! fellows that hav’nt any. will be sor.y you did'nt get busy during the bars I ward spring. There is still time f.r. | late potatns and for most any kind of garden truck. Don’t wait for the da: 1.1 of the moon. Plant it now. The suggestion that while we art all making gardens we ought not forget; that there is also inenty of room i.irt flowers and plants that beautify/:> homes atid the parks of Decatur. Th y require but little expense, care and intention and th< y add so much that o .ir good people should by no means ov* rlook the matter of flowers this ye..,-. Put them along side your garden. where in the yard. They will add ch ' and make the gardening w< -k more attractive and more enjoyab' >. We believe the members of the i:iti< iml guard and volunteer compan_>s should be giv-n some information is to when they will be called out A number of th> se men have quit tlte.r jobs, have come home from a long dis taiice to enlist and to make them lo 1 about for weeks with.mt any knowledge as to when they will be summoned is not fair to these men woo are offering their services lor the defense of the country. If they art nit to be called for weeks or months they should be told so and given the opportunity to arrange their business i - fairs accordingly. The saving daylight plan of moving the dock forward an hour, making the time in the middle west the same as eastern, seems t > be taking hold, h iving been adopted in Indianapolis ami now Fort Wayne is giving the plan : six months try out. While we don t like the idea vert* well, perhaps 0.cause we are a little old fashioned, nevertheless there js nothing much t > he dine except get in line, for if we don't we are going t i have one awf.l time missing trains or getting there an hour too soon besides all kinds of other trouble, where time is the important part of an engagement. Decatur should adopt the same lime used over the state for there is nothin', much more inconvenient than two >r three kinds of "time.” Its worth considering.
