Dr. Ernest Franz of Berne stopped here today enroute to Fort Wayne to attend the statfe medical convention. Miss Agnes Costello returned ? -s---terday from LaGrange where she visited with Miss Kathryn Granger since last Saturday. Mrs. Etta Cole ami daughter. Althea, returned today to Cleveland, O. They were guests of Mrs. Rebecca Harkless, Mrs. Ed Ahr and other friends. Mrs. James Hurst and daughter, Grace, left this morning for South Bend for a week’s visit with their daughter and sister, Mrs. Albert Katterheinrich. They wiil stop at Kendallville for a short visit with a cousin, Mrs. Mary Hendricks. Irene Rohyans, who is alleged to have threatened to shoot ami pour scalding water on any of the painters working on the house next door, who allowed his elbow to stick over the boundary line between th= two properties, secured a continuance until tomorrow.—Fort Wayne Journal Gazette.
NEWS REPORTER AMUCK (United Press Service) Missoula, Mont., Sept. 29—(Sped d to Daily Democrat) —Suffering from three bullet wounds inflicted by Miss Edith Colby, a news reporter,, A. 8. Thomas, republican county chairman was in a dangerous condition here today. It is alleged that Miss Colhy opened tire after Thomas refused to answer her questions and accused her of telling lies about him. She declured he insulted her. J. Manlre, editor of the paper is also in jail. Miss Colby told the sheriff that Manlre urged her to shoot Thomas. SPEECHES NEXT WEEK. Henry B. Heller is arranging for speeches in the various townships for next week and the complete calendar will be published tomorrow. Fred Bowers of Huntington will speak at the Preble and Williams school houses Thursday and Friday nights. Judge W. H. Eichhorn and Abram Simmons of Bluffton will speak at Berne Thursday night and W. 'H. Recd of Fort Wayne will speak at St. John’s Thursday night. Local speakers will address meetings in other parts of the county. Watch for calendar. Roosevelt’s running mate will speak for President Wilson in New York, New Jersey and Ohio, it was announced today. Parker wrote to President Wilson offering his services and the offer has been accepted. o BALDWIN-DEAM. Last night at 7:00 o’clock, at the home of Adam Deam on South Line street, occurred the marriage of Mr. Elery Baldwin to Miss Ethel Deam. by Rev. Harman. A splendid supper was served immediately after the ceremony. A number of the ladies of the vicinity gathered and belleVl them and a jolly time was had.
