As a liver stimulator, it’s great. It’s a perfect substitute for ordinary calomel (mercury); in fact, it’s better, because its action is gentle instead of severe and irritating — and it leaves no mean, disagreeable aftereffects. Physicians recognize this and prescribe mav-apple root (podophyllin, they call it) daily. Combined with fbur other standard, all-vegetable remedies, mayapple root may now be had at most any druggist’s in convenient sugarcoated tablet form by asking for Sentanel Laxatives. If you forget the name, ask for the box that has the picture of the soldier on it. These tablets are small, easy to take and are really wonderful little performers. They quickly clean out the poisons that are . causing you headache, constipation, sour stomach, biliousness, dizzy spells, bad breath i and coat-A toague. They are'Y.nd'. They never gripe. And they are a bowel tonic as well as a cleanser and liver regulator. A 10c box should. last one several weeks. A Physician’s trial package (4 doses) will be mailed you free if you write mentioning this advertisement. *» The Sentanel Remedies Co., 802 Madison Ave., Covington, Ky. democrat Wants Ads Pay.
Wanted to Ba Ready. A story is told of an old Irish gen tieman who was the only undertaker in am upper Michigan city years ago. He was what might be called a forehanded man. One day he met on the street the young son of a citizen who was reported to be at death's door. "How is yer fa-ather this mornin'?” asked the undertaker. "He’s sinking fast," said the boy. "Is that so? Poor boy! By the way, how tall Is yer faather?" t Composition of the Carrot. Carrots contain a large amount ot water, 86 per cent. Their most distinguished dietetical substance is sugar, ot which they possess nearly 6% per cent. Starch is also found in small quantities, with a small portion of albumen. The ancients used the seed both of the wild and cultivated carrot as an internal medicine against the bite of serpents; they also gave it to animals that had been stung by them. Benefit of Change. If you want to remain young in mind and keep such comeliness as was given you, secure variety. Try any simple change rather than remain stagnant. Move the furniture from place to place and .from room to room; change the curtains, the pictures and the wall paper. Try new diets. Throw yourself zestfully into fresh pursuits. The simple secret of health and beauty is Just variety! 1 ■ ■ • Women Warriors. It is commonly assumed that women lack the fighting instinct and have lacked it from the beginning. Certainly this is not true of the ancient Teutonic w.oman, the Urweib, who fought side by side with her bearded mate in incessant tribal wars. History tells us that the Roman armies had to defeat the women after they had defeated the men. Importance of Proper Ventilation. Roughly speaking, an increase in production of 10 per cent is not at all unusual in the average office, shop or warehouse, following the installation of a ventilation system. Fresh air, properly circulated, is an essential factor in successful factory management —Scientific American. Very Ancient British Grave. An ancient British stone-flagged grave has been discovered near Greenlaw, Scotland, consisting of four large, flat stones. It contained only a little fine dust. The dimensions indicate that it belongs to the period when men were buried in a sitting position. Just a Few Needs. Husband —“Now, then, what are our needs?” Wife—“ Well, the house needs painting, we are all out of kitchen utensils, the dining room-rug is threadbare, the bathroom must be decorated, and I’ve simply had to order some clothes.”—Judge. Dally Thought. He determined to add nothing, not so much as a passing sigh even, to the great total of men's unhappiness, in his way through the world —that, too, was something to hold on by the drift of mere “appearances."—Walter Pater. Somewhat Hard to Digest. On Monday morning little Jennie observed the kitchen assistant putting the clothes on to boll preparatory to washing them. Running upstairs she exclaimed: "Oh, mamma, we’re going -to have boiled clothes for dinner!'’ Removing Wax Stains. To remove wax or tallow stains lay a piece of brown paper over them and apply a hot flatiron. After one or two applications the paper will absorb every bit of the wax or tallow from the cloth, leaving no trace behind. Terrible Fate! Marian returned home from school somewhat excited. “Mamma," said she, “some of the children threw notes in school today and the teacher says if they do it again they are going to be misspelled.” — Evolution of Orange. * The orange was originally a pearshaped fruit about the size of the common wild cherry. Its evolution is believed by naturalists to be due to 1,20(1 years of cultivation. No Kick Coming. The men have no kick coming. About 987,654.321,000 women could paint their chocks for what it costs one man to paint his nose. —Cincinnati Enquirer. Souvenir*. If it weren’t for the free seeds that come annually some of us might forget that we had a representative in congress—Detroit Free Press. \7 : ..1p».
