From pyorrhea come by far the greater part of all tooth troubles. Unless treated and checked, it will result not only in the shrinking and malformation of your gums and of the bony structure into which your teeth are set, but in the loss of the teeth themselves. A specific for pyorrhea has been discovered recently by dental science, and is now offered for daily treatment in Senfeco Tooth Paste. Senreco combats the germ of the disease. Its regular use insures your teeth against the attack or further progress of pyorrhea.

TO THOSE INTERESTED IN PREPAREDNESS. I Dear Friends: — We nre advocates of preparedness. | We think that this government ought; <o and must formulate a sensible adequate plan for her army and navy, so when the dark days come, that they will form a sure means of protection to this rich and powerful nation. We believe that all thoughtful people subscribe to the sentiment, “In times of peace, prepare for war." Not with a spirit of aggression, hut with the noblest idea of defense. Such a course means, protection to each individual home, to each individual possession. This protection to the home lies veryclose to every man's thought. Many owners of valuable real estate are living in ignorance and consequent insecurity as regards the legal title to their home. They are in possession, it is true, but is that possession a legal and safe one? What course should they pursue? Very simple, "In times of peace, prepare for war,” is applicable to this situation. Procure an abstract of title. Do it now. It may save you unreasonable expense, litigation and other evils. Suppose you own a piece of town property or a farm that has been in your possession a long time, you have no abstract of title showing your ownership good. An offer is made you to sell —you accept and agree to give good title within a certain time—that time limited then you come in and 1 order an abstract made, and it is disI covered that there are numerous er- ! rors in the conveyance during the years back. Your time is limited to give deed and possession Ito your purchaser, and perhaps some omisi sion in an old deed makes a serious defect This frequently can be dear I cd up by getting some one who knew ' the grantors years ago to make an afi fidavit covering the facts and the de--1 feet is quickly cured. This is only one instance of possible errors. To correct by affidavit and b/ quit claim , deed is a much less expensive way ; than by bringing suit to quiet title. I It is better then to be for prepared- ! ness. Order your abstract in times ’of pea'-e and know that you have I plenty time to be able to cure defects as inexpensively as possible. Once secure in your title and ownership you are prepared and feel much easier. May we call your attention to our business of making abstracts of title? The Schirmeyer Abstract com pany has a most complete set of records in their office. The Schirmeyer Abstract company have in their files a very large number of affidavits made by pioneers who had a wide acquaintanceship among our people in the early days (when most deeds and legal papers were drawn up by incompetent and inexperienced men and so frequently carelessly done), that have been procured during the last twenty-five years, that are exceedingly valuable in abstract work. The Schirmeyer Abstract company is thoroughly competent and experienced and very reasonable in their charges. You pay for just what actual work is done. Let us make your abstracts. Our office is next door to the postoffice. We would be pleased to have you call and talk it over with us. Respectfully, THE SCHIRMEYER ABSTRACT CO. FRANK M. SCHIRMEYER. FRENCH QUINN. ADELAIDE PHILLIPS AND AN OLD-TIME NEGRO MELODY. Early in IS4O a tiny English lass of seven years landed in America with her parents from Stratford-on-Avon, the historic birthplace of William Shakespeare. At the age of nine little Adelaide Phillips made her first appearance at the Tremont theater in Boston. Jenny met her and ad vised her to go to London, and later she studied in Italy, where she won a great triumph as Arsace in “Semiramide.” Returning to America she was given an ovation accorded few singers and continued her tour on to Cuba. When the Boston Ideal Opera company was organized in 1879 she appeared in “Pinafore" and the Sullivan operas, and added greatly to her fame as one of America's most popular and beloved contralto singers. It was a memory that can never be afthe old popular songs as encore after encore was demanded. To hear her sing that plaintive melody ot Foster’s, faced to hear Adelaide Phillips sing "Massa’s in de Cold, Cold Ground,” vibrated the heart chords and touch ed the hearts of hearers. This song is to be found on page 350 of “Heart Songs,” a veritable library of the greatest songs in the world, and now offered to the readers ot this paper for six coupons and the cost ot distribution. _ .. MISS OPPORTUNITY YOU MISS SUCCESS. ■ I"”--Waiting For the Seventh Wave; Is Foolish - 11 WISCONSIN FIRM’S SCHEME An Up-to-Datc Merchant Who Successfully Fire With Fire-Local Dealers Request Consumers to Give Them an Opportunity to Figure—< an. and Will Meet Competition.

! [Copyrighted. 1914, by Thomas J. Sullivan.. If you want to succeed in the world : you must make your own opportunities as you go on. The man who waits for the seventh wave to toss him on dry land will find ; that the seventh wave is a long time in 1 coming. You can commit no greater folly than to sit by the roadside until some one comes along and invites you to ride witli him to wealth or influence. Business men. local and otherwise, in the entire country, are desirous of increasing and extending their business, and if they did not care to do this they would not be in business. Can Successfully Cope. It is doubtful if there be a local retailer in tlie country who could not successfully cope with the mail order and catalogue retailer would lie but try. This the local merchant may not know, but nevertheless it is an absolute fact. There is a retail firm in a towu in Wisconsin which Conspicuously displays upon its counters one of the catalogues of the largest Chicago mail order houses, upon the covgr of which is pasted a notice that,it will furnish any article advertisedin the catalogue as cheaply as the buyer can secure the articles from Chicago, and it lives up to the advertisement attached to the very letter. Mail Order House Seconds. The substantial toeal merchant knows well that the cheap stoves sold by the catalogue mail order houses are light weight stoves; that the iron beds shown in the advertisement matter as massive frames with strong corner I posts und heavy crossbars are light. 1 frail castings, commonly known to the trade as ".seconds," which no honest I or reliable furniture dealer would keep , in Ills stock because he could not sell them to people who were given tin opportunity to inspect the goods before purchasing. It is only on very rare occasions that patrons of a mail order house ever get the worth of their money when they buy from the pictures in the catalogue, while, on the other band, the local retailer, if lie understands his business, buys his stock direct from the manufacturers and jobbers who have a reputation at stake and who supply goods of quality to their direct representatives, the retail merchants, throughout the country.
