At the Crystal Tuesday, matinee and evening. The usual prise of ten cents will be charged. It took just two weeks to ruin Ellis Mason, and this is how it was done: Mason was a young politician of talent and promise—also he had high ideals, and that’s where Mason and politics fell out —at least that’s where Mason fell out. For, whereas a man may have high ideals in politics he nec-nds must have that degree of talent known as genius to back them, or else —but hear Mason’s story: Mason was appointed assistant district attorney under Bell. Forced by Bell to overlook the fact that there were flagrant violations of the law in a certain dive, Mason took advantage of Bell’s temporary absence to raid the place; but the very man on whom Bell was 1 dependent, a high church dignitary, a “pillar of society," owned the place and got revenue from it. Mason’s fearlessness was noted and appreciated by the Commonwealth club, who nominated him for the district attorneyship. But the coterie of vice-pur-veyors got busy. They secured the services of Clarice Adair, dancing girl and bunco steerer of the raided case, to lure Mason to her room on a well feigned pretense. The couple were apprehended and Mason’s candidacy discredited. His sweetheart was turned against him, because of his “proven” guilt, and his future darkened by the connection this affair would always have with his name. The dancing girl, conscience stricken and desirous of clearing Mason, attempts to exonerate him, but is threatened by Beil " ith a long term of imprisonment for perjury should she confess • — MRS. ENOS DOING WELL Mrs. Minnie Daniels called on Mrs. C. C. Enos yesterday at the Lutheran hospital, where last Thursday she underwent a serious operation from which she is recovering fine. Miss Nellie Daniels, of the Lutheran hospital, is her special nurse. - Don’t forget the Harvey n-itson sale of live stock and farm implements, two and a half miles southwest of Decatur, on Thursday, November 11. 26514
